Among them will be ex-pat Pamela Fenn, a widow in her 70s. She claims she "scared off" an intruder who had broken into her apartment in the days before the McCanns arrived to stay in the holiday flat directly below her.
Mrs Fenn has told friends she heard a noise as she watched television and found a man escaping through her bedroom window. Her niece, who was staying with her, also saw the man.
The widow reported the incident to police but claims no one contacted her after Madeleine vanished -until two weeks ago, when British detectives called on her.
Mrs Fenn's niece is travelling to Portugal from the UK next week to be interviewed by the Policia Judiciaria.
Mrs Fenn said: "I will speak to the police on Monday."
The alleged break-in is said to have happened within days of a second burglary in the same block.
A Scottish holidaymaker said that on the first night of her stay, she and a friend returned to the flat to find their belongings and £500 worth of foreign money had been taken.
But there was no sign of forced entry at the second floor apartment and police called to the scene told the middle-aged book-keeper that they believed someone with a key was the most likely suspect, sparking concerns about security at the complex.
Detectives are understood to be waiting for the results of DNA tests on blood samples before re-interviewing Kate and Gerry McCann and their party of friends.

It's good to hear that they are finally looking into those but it's been over four years.

Two young girls vanished without a trace and if Gonc had been even a half-way decent detective, the children may have been found and possibly safe. The more we hear the worse it gets, about Gonc's "investigation", even after all this time.

- Does not know Madeleine's parents, nor the child, as she has already noted, she has no direct contact with guests;
- States that for as long as she has been employed [with the OC], there have been break-ins into the apartment- the most recent of which occurred on April 16, 2007, into an apartment in block 5 L, where a plasma was stolen, credit cards and a mobile telephone from the respective guests;
- The robbery was carried out when the guests had left for dinner shortly after having checked-in and left their baggage in the room;
- She remembers that she was told that no windows or doors were forced and that the guests had left the door locked, but she is not absolutely sure;
- She states that she was never told of any suspects or whether and of those that committed the crime had been identified;

- Is not aware of an strange/suspicious individuals in the interior or exterior of the complex during her entire service to the resort. She adds that she has never been questioned about the type of guests that frequent the resort, but that only some friends have asked her if there was work to be had in the cleaning sector of said establishment;
- On the 3rd of May, 2007, she came to work as normal, at 09H30, left at 13H00, having gone to lunch at home in Lagos and returned at 14H30;
- In this period, she does not remember having seen any individual or vehicle that caught her attention;
- At round 18H30, she left work and went home and again did not see anything out of the ordinary or suspicious in the interior or exterior of the establishment;
- She became aware of the facts the next day, Friday, via a colleague of hers.

She was supposed to blog yesterday, but instead we got a rewrite of the first disaster. No sign of anything today, though the first one does seem to have changed again? I am not giving myself another headache trying to compare the various versions of it.

I assume that that came from ForkerBook, Tony - are we supposed to believe that Brown hasn't been on her own for a couple of hours at any time over the last two days? I am just waiting for the 'the internet wouldn't work' excuse to get trotted out.
