A GYPSY couple who smuggled a girl of seven into the UK to use as a slave faced years in jail last night.

The youngster, from Romania, was dubbed Cinderella by a 53-year-old fellow captive who watched her being beaten and abused.

The man was beaten and sexually attacked himself, but he escaped and alerted police.

When the youngster was rescued she was dressed in filthy clothes, had scabs all over her head and her teeth were so rotten they had to be removed.

Romanians Aurel Zlate, 46, and wife Alexandra Oaie, 43, made her work at their terraced house in Wood Green, North London, where they ran an illegal scrap metal business.

They were found guilty of trafficking the youngster in 2010 with intent to exploit her.

The maximum sentence is 14 years. The pair, who have eight children and are on benefits, were also convicted of neglect at Croydon Crown Court.

Sons Marian Neamu, 25, and Florin Zlate, 23, were found guilty of raping the man. All will be sentenced today.

I dont think that we are generally aware but quite a lot of human trafficking goes on, even in this country. There is still slave labour around, according to numerous reports on the internet ... UK included
