Thanks, Pedro, I'd missed that one:
Police review Madeleine case
Updated: 15-Mar-2012
Portuguese detectives from Porto are to carry out a review into the case of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
Scotland Yard officers have been carrying out their own review since May 2011 after a request from British Home Secretary Theresa May and support from Prime Minister David Cameron.
This investigation will now be assisted by a team of Judicial Police (PJ) headed by senior officer Helena Monteiro and it is believed that the group of detectives has been looking into the case for some weeks.
Madeleine McCann was almost four years old when she vanished from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007.
The official investigation inquiry into her disappearance ended in 2008.
According to Portuguese daily newspaper Correio da Manhã, PJ officers will not formally reopen their investigation as they have not yet come across any new leads that shed light on Madeleine’s whereabouts.
Gerry and Kate McCann’s spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said: ‘’Kate and Gerry obviously welcome the work being done by the PJ in Porto alongside that of the Met investigative team. They clearly hope that it will lead to the case being reopened in due course. There is good co-operation between the Met and the PJ, and Kate and Gerry remain grateful for the time and resources that have been put into the search for Madeleine.”
He added: “They will not be discussing any details whilst both the Met investigative review and the PJ work is continuing, but clearly it is a positive development.’’
Rogério Alves, the McCanns’ Portuguese lawyer, told the Daily Mirror: “It’s not certain, but what’s happening at the moment is that some of the information passed to the authorities could lead to a reopening of the case.
“There is something that aroused enough interest from the Portuguese and British police to warrant this review in search of new clues. The most plausible explanation is that information passed to or acquired by the Judicial Police has put them on the trail of something specific.”
Answers are needed
Portuguese crime expert Moita Flores, in his column in Correio da Manhã, commented on the fact that Scotland Yard had made a further £2 million available for the search of Madeleine.
He said: “I think it’s good. When answers are needed for a situation of such tragic dimensions, the authorities should invest whatever is necessary to solve these mysteries.
“We will all find some peace when we know what happened to Madeleine.”
--------------
Oh dear, Team Gonc won't like that - that isn't exactly what Fruitloop Flores had to say about it....

I bet the team want to interview all the Gonc Squad, that lied and leaked information from the files before they were released.
Starting with crimeevil expert Moita Flores.

Probably, Maggs, but it won't be because anyone needs their help in finding Madeleine. Unless any of them were involved in Madeleine's disappearance. Which is beginning to look like a possibility to me. But then I always was a bit behind the obvious.

Re: Police review Madeleine case
I would be surprised if the Yard/Porto PJ were NOT asking questions about just why Gonc made such a mess of the first investigation, Maggs.
Who knows, the PJ may have been trying to find an excuse to do that for a while.
And I do hope they also take a close look at Stooges Flores, Carvalho, Cristovao and Sargento - what was in it for those four?

I'll tell you what, Bonny. None of them are helping themselves at the moment. They are just looking more and more desperate and suspicious by telling yet more lies, all of which can be proven as lies.
The last thing that I want is a Legal Vendetta against this bunch, so the Portuguese Judges in The Libel Trial have got to be totally unbiased.

Re: Police review Madeleine case
I wonder, could Morais be pushing this rubbish because her name is on so many dodgy translations?
After all, like the McCanns before them, the Yard will not be relying on her 'interpretations' and edits.
Obviously, Porto PJ don't need translations, but if they become aware of all the discrepancies, they may well start asking awkward questions of the 'wonderful translators'?

Could her Translations be seen as Interfering With the Course of Justice? Unless her Portuguese is as bad as her English when it comes reporting.

Oh Bonny,
But don't forget the main translator for Gonc at the start was not Morais, but good old lying Clawdia.
Noone else did Gonc's translations at that time, only her and he oppo Alsa.

Please let us not forget Astro. She has done a fair bit of damage all by herself. But she always seems to sit under the Radar somehow.

Maddie's parents believe that process will be reopened
Kate and Gerry McCann, parents of missing British child in 2007 in Praia da Luz in the Algarve, today expressed the hope that the case be reopened with the announcement of the reevaluation of the case by Portuguese and British police.
According to a report released today by the Journal News, Scotland Yard has a team of 37 people to investigate the matter and the Judicial Police in Portugal and recently awarded the case to the Chamber of Criminal Investigation and Prevention of Porto.
In a statement sent to Lusa news agency, the parents of Madeleine McCann report being happy with this development.
"It's exactly what we have been asking for. We hope that this re-examination of the case resulting in the reopening of the process in time," say Kate and Gerry McCann, parents of a missing child May 3, 2007.
Speaking to the Lusa news agency, the lawyer for the parents of Madeleine McCann also felt very positive decision of the Portuguese and British police to reactivate the investigation.
"Until we find out what happened to Madeleine it will not be closed. I see now this recrudescence of the investigations as a very positive sign on the expectation that they will discover what really happened to Madeleine and that is really what matters to discover "said Rogerio Alves.
To Rogério Alves, these decisions demonstrate only that "the police are aware and is committed to discovering what happened to Madeleine."
The lawyer says not to fear a resumption of proceedings in court, which will only happen if new evidence is discovered, and even expresses the wish that "the investigations bring sufficient evidence to reopen the case."
"The responsibility of the parents was dismissed by prosecutors. Parents have nothing to fear and what they want is new information which might contribute to the discovery of truth and that it may pass through the reopening of the case," he concluded
