Of course he is better off financially than The McCanns. They are just fortunate enough to have the backing of good people who loathe they way in which they have been treated.
I can't see anyone wealthy and influential rushing to help his Hate Campaign, but who would put their name to that, except a bunch of Internet Nutters who are almost certainly worse off than he is.

The UK Pension is not much compared with other countries, so I wonder how he will manage. He has no small children so he can't claim for them, his mother lives elsewhere so he can't claim for her, his wife is as far as we know compos menti so he can't claim carer allowances (though I now understand that you lose this when you claim state pension, so a friend told me). He has his own house - so all in all he is only entitled to the basic state pension which in the UK ain't gonna get you far. He can no more claim 'extras' than I can; and if he tries the law will come down on him like 2 tons of bricks! LL

I suspect he will have some kind of private pension, LL, which he will naturally 'forget' to tell his fans about when he does his poor old soul act.

As I understand it, he has full access to his mother's account.
What better place to hide his savings?

Here's the thing, Tony. If Bennett has hidden money there, it doesn't really help him.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, Legal Aid isn't an outright gift; it's a loan, and as soon as recipients have any money, they are expected to repay it, or they will have the Treasury chasing them.

Makes no odds what stunts Bennett tries to pull, one way or another, it is going to come out of his pocket.

Also - in the unlikely event that he does get more than 50p Legal Aid, he still has to find someone to defend him. Who in their right minds is going to, besides someone freshly qualified and wanting to get a bit of publicity?

He had legal advice, remember, and made a show of following it - then broke his word to Kirwans, and broke the agreement he made with the High Court.

Who does he think is going to represent him? Look at the headlines he has had, with words like VILE, SICKO, STALKER attached to them.

He's bad news for any law firm, IMO.

After what he did to Kirwan's anyone who represented him would have to be as insane as he is. That's one bit of Karma that has come back to bite him on the bum.
Who in their right mind is going to risk being slagged off on Forums and probably Twitter if Bennett loses?

Any lawyer foolish enough to represent Bennett will ask Kirwans for the case documents, Sabot. They will instantly see that Bennett a. ignored legal advise and b. breached his solemn vow to the High Court.

How can anyone defend him, except by claiming their client is insane?

Does anyone know why Bennett is trying to pretend that the costs so far of £120,000 are nothing to do with him?

Carter Ruck did not ignore legal advice and carry on harrassing and libelling people.

Bennett did.

Carter Ruck did not make a solemn vow to HM the Queen in the person/s of the High Court and then merrily break that vow, repeatedly.

Carter Ruck have not generated a rainforest's-worth of evasions, irrelevancies, malicious and deliberate falsehoods.

Bennett did.

Carter Ruck have not now created yet more paperwork, all of which costs money, in the vain hope of escaping the inevitable.

So, how is this anyone's fault except Bennett's?

Bennett doesn't deserve legal aid. If he finds a lawyer crazy enough to defend him, he will destroy that relationship too. Everything that man touches, ends up in disaster. He doesn't deserve to be discussed that much, he has not made any difference to the case, he is not important, and never was.
I hope justice will be served, when Bennett has to pay the highest price, punishment for what he has done to Madeleine and her family.

I would be very surprised if he got Legal Aid, Rose. For one thing this is a civil case, not a criminal one. I hope Bennett is prepared to have the Treasury going through all his bank statements, every single thing relevant to his financial status. If he has apparently unearned income, they will want to know where it came from. If he has been hiding money in someone else's name, they will find it.

As they should, as it is taxpayers' money they are loaning Bennett - note the word 'loaning', he need not have dreams of inheriting fortunes, because the Treasury will want their money back.

If Bennett has been the slightest bit dishonest about a 50p piece, it will be found.

And then what? What defence can he mount? He was given good legal advice, agreed with it - then broke his word. Who is going to rush to defend a client like that?

As you say, he is poison. Any lawyer he gets will ask Kirwans for the relevant documents, and see what he has done.

I cannot see any defence for Bennett except insanity, frankly.

Bennett is actually trying to find a loophole in the law regarding Legal Aid; Carter Ruck are more than happy for him to attempt to do so. That way, he cannot bleat about being 'unfairly treated'. And every time Bennett tries a stunt like this, it bumps up the costs.

Bennett might be on DLA for his mental illnesses (Disability Living Allowance) his wife could be claiming carer' allowance for him, as he can for her if she's got anything wrong with her.

not really...if he's been on it for a few years, he might never have even been called back for another assesment....but thankfully it is all changing

Whatever he has been doing, he certainly hasn't been working, Rhodes - and he still has a few months till he retires officially.

Well he hasn't been living on his savings, and the Interest on those wouldn't have been enough to keep them, let alone pay for all of the holidays, so he must have been getting money from somewhere else.

Both JM and Autumn took it upon themselves to ban over 100 members one night without permission or good reason. They also deleted many posts. They then denied it even though their activities were recorded in the Admin Control Panel. I allowed Tony to have access to the ACP so he could see for himself what they'd done.

That was all a bit strange, I thought. All of those people disappearing at about the same time from Havern's. So obviously there was a fall out of some kind. But why bother? They were all supposedly on the same side.
But Bennett was in ascendence at that time, wasn't he. So it must have been a War of Egos.

We all know Bennett nicks Email address. How else did he get mine, and my name. So what was the problem? Or didn't they want the cretins to know that Bennett was harvesting private information?
