A woman and child formalized in the Public Ministry (MP) a complaint against the military GNR Canedo, Santa Maria da Feira, which they accuse of abuse of authority, coercion and assault, said Thursday that the plaintiffs' lawyer.

By: Lusa

Informed of the substance of the complaint, the source of the General Command of the GNR said that the hierarchy of the corporation will find out what happened, to take such measures as the situation demands.

He added, however, that "the institution National Guard does not review the conduct described by the citizens," urging them to go ahead with a share of the facts in his own GNR, PSP or even in the General Inspectorate of Internal Administration.

The plaintiffs chose to bring the matter to MP Santa Maria da Feira, according to the lawyer, the complaint came in those services on Wednesday.

The content of the document focuses on episodes in the afternoon of May 7, following a stop command given to Maria de Fatima Oliveira and his son Jose Ricardo, who followed a car carrying scrap.

Jose Ricardo, who had previously been detected driving without a license, bail that this time, occupied the passenger seat, the car being driven by her mother, but the military GNR will have them compelled to admit otherwise.

The refusal of both to yield to the "strong psychological torture" of the military and an application to Mary of Fatima for the agents to identify themselves have generated the bulk of violent acts and Jose Ricardo reported that participation confirms the MP and details.

The plaintiffs refer, for example, that one of the officers shot Jose Ricardo against the door of the patrol car, "with such violence that the door was dented", striking him with two punches and pulling her hair.

The mother, the complaint notes, tried to rescue the child, "but no sooner approached, the agent sent him a blow on the forehead, unbalancing it."

When handcuffed, Maria de Fatima, who says he has heart problems and column, have been thrown into a muddy ditch, at a time when it rained heavily.

Jose Ricardo has also been handcuffed by officers, before being beaten to punch, back, and grabbed by the neck, the plaintiffs bail.

Maria de Fatima and son, which describe various injuries allegedly caused by the military, were taken to the post of the GNR Canedo, but not confirmed as "not something that occurred", were released at the site and had to go walking in the rain intense, approximately two miles that separated them from their car.

"Amid all this, what is unworthy as I could hit a sick wife and me, without us they do no harm," said Jose Ricardo.

Unable to verify in a timely manner the information that the military is associated with the case will advance to the complaint in the MP, advancing with a stake against those two people.

You know what is really stunning, Maggs? There are only 10 million people in Portugal - and police abuse and corruption seems to be endemic.

I really don't know why they bother pretending anything changed when they had their supposed 'revolution', it looks like the same old police state to me.

Can you imagine what anyone seeing that would have thought? It might have been justified if the man was a suspected terrorist, it certainly wasn't over a mobile phone.

The comments are interesting; there are a good few that have very obviously come from the nearest police station - the police are wonderful, the public are scum, the usual line.

But the rest - the police aren't very well thought of by the public, are they? I see it took TWENTY officers to deal with a man using a phone whilst parked with a wheel on the pavement....that isn't serving the public, that is a police riot.
