Interview with South African hoaxer

I know we have heard it, in English, but it is difficult for Pedro and other non-native English speakers to follow, as Birch has a heavy SA accent.

It is also easier to check things when they are written down.

For instance, his outright libel is plain to see, as is its sheer ridiculousness:

Madeleine died on the third of May, 2007 and on that same evening Madeleine went into the ground.

What, right where these Portuguese police officers are standing?



Just another con-man, out for his fifteen minutes of fame, not caring who he hurts, libels or smears.

Well I have had a long and calming shower while thinking about what this Birch character said on the radio in South Africa and what he said to Expresso and the other bits that have been quoted from and about him over the last couple of days.

And ITS ABSOLUTELY APPALLING.

He can't say why, back in March he knew the body had to be 3ft in from the Murat fence, but says to Expresso he could only determine that with the technology.

He claims there is NOWHERE else in the whole of PDL (having looked at ALL the buildings) that there could have been a burial. THAT IS BLATANT RUBBISH.

He claims that he has evidence that the PJ overlooked.

He claims he has evidence that the Murat property wasn't searched properly. REALLY?

He could give NO answer when asked about what expertise he had that made him better than the PJ and SY.

And he spluttered when asked about the effect it would have on the McCanns but ignored the issue completely. He as focusing on his OWN needs and his OWN OBSESSION not Madeleine. Now WHERE have we seen that KIND OF THING before?

He also muddled up and at one point I AM SURE HE said, that his fifteen month investigation was ONLY thirteen months. And he constantly muddles in articles and Expresso and on radio the I/we issue.

He's been primed by others and hasn't done a good job of remembering his answers is how he is coming across to me. I sense he's simply parroting others. An example of that is towards the end of the Expresso interview when at GREAT LENGTH he explains not how his investigation was tough but how difficult the PJ found things and then right at the end he wants closure for everybody.

And I want to know who he met in Portugal. Why he confuses the I and WE so often. Who are the other people he wants closure for? When he clearly has no interest in the feelings of the McCanns, Murat or Murat's mother, we can all work out who that leaves.

18 months ago I had virtually no interest in this case (well not since it was very big news anyway) and now I'm able to pick this charlatan to pieces. I wish the the general public and those blinded by hate would read between the lines and get up to speed.

And YES WHEN THE STAR MOCKS you you are not worth the paper the article is written on. This man is just as much a VILE STALKER as that character Hyland who was exposed as a nasty not so long ago. Just this fellow seems to have a bit more "get up and go", and ability to influence the press than the beer swilling Hyland.

Agree. He is coming out with phrases that seem rather familiar, but details like where, exactly, he got his scanner from are vague.

As is his reason for deciding to hang around Murat's garden to begin with.

This was aimed, IMO, at stupid, nasty, people, who will believe any old rubbish as long as it hurts the McCanns. It went round the hate sites like a Mexican Wave, and one or two of the less-stupid are now frantically trying to distance themselves from this stunt.

The police need to find out who put him up to this.

I for one believe Stephen Birch has breathed fresh life into exposing the McCanns as being complete frauds. What parent under the circumstances wouldn't demand Murat's drive be dug up immediately, especially since their tapasnik friends identified him to the PJ as loitering around the apartment when the abduction occurred - which he and his mother categorically deny. This would eat away at me forever if my child were missing.

If Maddie was truly abducted, the McCanns would be keen to check this alleged grave out immediately (imo).

So the McCanns allegedly say they want it dug up....... but do they??????

They have no choice but to feign interest.

IMO, whoever is behind this hoax thought they could manipulate the McCanns, and others, into demanding Murat's garden be dug up yet again, with all the dreadful headlines that would generate.

The Devil, however, is in the detail, and they didn't know about this:



Whole thing is a very sick stunt, a hoax, and the people behind it need to be traced and charged by the police.

From listening to him, he has decided on a scenario of what he thinks happened after reading some of The Files, and then turned it into fact by stating that this is what happened rather than what he thinks happened.
He also says that he agrees with Amaral that the body was not transported in the car that was hired 23 days later, when we know for a fact that Amaral believes that the body was in the car.
His story is a mish mash of Hater theories coupled with Jane Tanner's sighting which he has interpreted as a friend of The McCanns carrying the child.
He has also picked up that some of The Tapas Men went Wind Surfing, and decided that "The Friend" was one of them.
Don't know where he got the Initials from, but I doubt he would dare to quote actual initials.

Sorry, I forgot to say that I think he has been coached, but more likely by someone like Pat Brown who appears to know as little about the case as he does. Not likely to be Amaral but possibly someone to do with Bennett as Bennett doesn't agree with Amaral on some points, hence his fall out with Morais.

But he got the details of Amaral's Theory wrong. Amaral most certainly does not believe that Madeleine was buried that night in Murat's garden and then left there until now.
Stephen Burch has obviously been given a barrage of Hater Theories and failed to put them together correctly.

Interesting article. The mccanns have no option but to ask for a re-opening. They have to be seen to be the ones requesting this. As in, bringing in the dogs was their idea. I wonder however, if it is one of those Catch 22 situations? Can the police dig up the yard without re-opening the case? I think a lot of lawyers are going to be very busy this weekend, with the possible delay of a dig. I hope that doesn't happen. In a sane world, RM and his mother, would be pleased to be exonerated, and the Mccanns would volunteer to pay for any excavations and repair out of the Fund. After all, there is a missing child here.

What a bl**dy nerve! Why should ANYONE jump to do anything, because of a con-man who has been fed his lines by, well, we all have an idea about that.

And it wouldn't be the end of it, would it? Next thing, we'd get, Oh, he must have moved the body because of Birch.

Why the f*ck should the Murats be 'pleased to be exonerated'?

Newsflash - that happened already, FOUR YEARS AGO.

Pondlife like that don't care who they hurt, who they smear, do they? It's all just a big game to them.

Sharoni is busting a gut trying to convince everyone that Stephen Birch informed The PJ at the same time that he sent The Emails. But she is not very convincing as she is using expressions like, "We were led to believe that The PJ had been informed."

Methinks Bennett and Co are getting really worried because they never done wot they should off.
