Angela Merkel backs circumcision right after German ruling

And I should jolly well think so too. This is not just a Religious Issue. Obviously. Jews and Muslims are fighting this.

I agree; if the rite is performed by a mohel (Jewish) or in the case of muslims by a religious official who is certified and trained (as are mohels), then there should be no problems. And I feel that anything that is accepted as part of a religious practice should be permitted, so long as it dos no harm. For instance, the shooting/stoning of a woman for adultery while the partner goes free, is totally unacceptable; its is also, unlike circumcision, NOT part of the religion but a cultural practice. LL

There are several other reasons for this practice which most people don't even think about, but all of the non Jewish and non Muslim cicumsised men that I have discussed this with had to have it done for medical reasons, mostly some years after birth when it is much more painful and traumatic. Personally, I think it is a good idea generally speaking, although I didn't have my sons circumsised, simply because it didn't occur to me at the time. Presuming I could have done if I wished.
