Three suspected members of al-Qaeda detained in Spain with explosives
Spanish police arrested on Tuesday in Andalusia, southern Spain, three alleged members of Al Qaeda. One had an explosive device capable of "destroying a bus" and was planning an attack in Spain or Europe.
According to Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz, one of the men is a Turkish national, others are natural "one of the Eurasian republics of the former USSR."
A police source said to El Pais to be Chechens.
None of the men had identification.
The first work in Gibraltar and was detained in Cadiz, in the house where he lived with his wife.
When police arrived he was with her and two other people who are on parole. There, police found an explosive device that is currently being examined.
In a press conference this Thursday, Fernandez said that the explosive "could destroy an entire bus."
The same source said the Spanish newspaper that the police believe that there would be other explosives in the house.
The other two men, whose nationality has not been confirmed because they had no documents, were arrested in Ciudad Real, one of the stops a bus trip to France.
Tried to resist, but eventually stopped. Interior Minister stressed that the suspects are "extremely dangerous people."
It is the first time that suspected members of this terrorist organization are arrested with explosives in Spain.
Fernandez also ensures that one is a "very important member in the structure of the international Al-Qaeda."
In the police version, the three men have links to Al-Qaeda cell responsible for attacks in Bombay in 2008 that killed 170 people, and have been trained in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

That's an excellent piece of work by the police, getting the barstewards before they carried out whatever bit of devilry they had planned.
Thank you, Pedro.

Looks like this is what they were up to:

Gibraltar Terror Plot Foiled, Reports Say
A Turk and two Chechens are detained over reports they were planning an attack on Gibraltar.
The home of one of the men arrested was near Gibraltar's border with Spain
A plot to bomb Gibraltar's main shopping centre during the Olympics has been foiled, according to reports in the Spanish media.
The plot involved three suspected al Qaeda terrorists, the reports said.
Sky sources say the reports are credible and that British intelligence was involved in monitoring the suspects although that role was described as "minimal".
The target in the British territory was said by El Pais newspaper to be the main shopping centre.
Three suspects are in custody. When police raided the home of one, Cengiz Yalcin, a Turk, near the border with Gibraltar, they found a video which was used in evidence against him.
A "significant" haul of explosives were also found as well as the parts for three paragliding machines.
The video is said to show him piloting a large remote-controlled plane. The aircraft drops two packages from the air to the ground at which point "Yalcin celebrated his achievement", said El Pais.
The suspicion is the plan was to drop explosives on the shopping centre.
The two other suspects are both Chechen. All three men are thought to have connections with al Qaeda.
A judge detained Yalcin for "possession of explosive substances and devices with terrorist aims" and also held the two Chechen men, Mohamed Adamov and Eldar Magomedov, for belonging to a terrorist organisation and possession of bomb-making material.
Magomedov is thought to be a former member of the Russian special forces "Speznatz" unit and an expert in explosives.
His arrest follows co-operation between intelligence agencies in France, the US, the UK and Spain.
---------
Brown will probably announce that they were just having 'mid-life crises'.

According to information released by the Spanish Government
British police has alleged ETA member
Police arrested on Wednesday in London, an alleged member of Basque separatist group ETA, which was more than a decade escaped, informed the Spanish Government.
The suspect, Kemen Uranga Artola, was the target of a European arrest warrant since 2001, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry gave no details of the circumstances of the arrest or indictment Artola.
According to Spanish media, Artola, born in 1969, was connected to the command of ETA Vizcaya and is suspected of having participated in the murder of Judge Jose Maria Lidon, killed by ETA to 07 November 2001 in the Spanish Basque Country.
This is the fourth member of the armed group detained in the UK since June.
The Government said that 19 elements in total were detained this year, 12 of them in France.
ETA is blamed for 800 deaths over four decades-long campaign to create a Basque nation in northern Spain and southwest France.
In October, announced the end of its armed activity, but did not respond to the demands of the Spanish authorities to disarm and disband.
