I know, thanks to National Geographic, that Florida has a problem with these snakes, but it's a pity nothing can be done about it bar killing them.
I am sure they must be an endangered species somewhere.

Snake rescued after coiling itself around a Glasgow lamp post
Exotic rescue: Lumiere the rat snake was found in Govanhill.
Animal inspectors were called to rescue a snake which had coiled itself around a lamp post in Glasgow.
Officers from the Scottish SPCA were called to Hollybrook Street in Govanhill on August 11, after locals spotted the reptile.
The residents managed to get the rat snake into a pillowcase and waited for the animal experts to arrive.
Staff at the Scottish SPCA have now named the snake Lumiere, which is French for light.
Jennifer Connolly, Scottish SPCA inspector, said: “The woman who alerted us to Lumiere was pretty shaken up by her discovery.
“It’s not every day you find a snake outside your house so it’s understandable she got a fright.
“Someone else contained Lumiere inside a pillow case until I arrived because the lady wouldn’t go near him. Despite her shock, we’re very glad she called us so we could help Lumiere.”

See? The giant python should have gone to Govanhill; someone would have kept it cosy till the SSPCA got there.
I have no idea how the locals knew the correct method of snake-unwinding, either. Surely there can't be that many of them on Glasgow lampposts?

Re: Monster Python: 17ft Snake Caught In Florida
Maybe we need to get sign posts out in Florida, particularly the Everglades, and they can go to Glasgow?

Clearly, they are fearless in Govanhill, disentangling snakes from lampposts comes naturally

Re: Monster Python: 17ft Snake Caught In Florida
I had a small snake go over my foot three weeks ago in a lawn.
It's not quite the same as a Burmese Python though........

Re: Monster Python: 17ft Snake Caught In Florida
This is clearly the solution to Florida's python problem, just send them here. If they start overbreeding, Glaswegians will just dip them in batter and deep fry them.
