Disclosure of secrets about case 'Maddie case "deteriorate relations with Portugal "
My friends, I received this through google alert:
http://expresso.sapo.pt/divulgacao-de-segredos-do-caso-maddie-deteriorariam-relacoes-com-portugal=f760891
Disclosure of secrets about case 'Maddie case "deteriorate relations with Portugal "
to British journalists it have been refused to them to viewed files on the case of Madeleine McCann on the grounds that disclosure would lead to "deterioration of the relations with Portugal."
The British Home Office has denied journalists access to secret files on the case of Madeleine McCann, on the grounds that its disclosure would lead "to a specific deterioration of relations between the United Kingdom with Portugal," according the "Express" , site of the newspapers "Daily" and "Sunday Express".
Sources from the "Express" indicate there is great concern within the British Police for having investigated a case in Portugal, where they have no jurisdiction.
According to the article, the files contain, where appropriate, records of conversations with the Metropolitan Police on the case. It was also indicated that three of the documents raise differences between British officials.
The Metropolitan Police has reviewed last year, the case of the disappearance of Maddie, following pressure accordingly welcome the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the British Prime Minister David Cameron himself.

Thank you, Pedro - I am going to move this to the main forum.
That's odd, Birch was muttering along those lines earlier today. And that isn't an old article, as sometimes happens, it is definitely today's date:

It would appear to be very similar to this story from the beginning of July. I suppose it could be that the Express put in a further more specific request and were again refused. But it could also just be a rehash of this story.

MADELEINE MCCANN FILE KEPT SECRET
Sunday July 1,2012
By James Murray
THE Home Office is refusing to release secret files on the Madeleine McCann case to avoid diplomatic ructions with Portugal.
The documents are believed to record discussions with the Metropolitan Police about sensitive details of the baffling case.
Rejecting attempts by a newspaper to see the files, the Home Office said there would be “specific detriment to the UK’s relationship with Portugal” if they were released.
It also claimed disclosure of three of the documents would “stifle discussion” between officials.
A Met review of the case was ordered last year after pressure from the Home Office and David Cameron.
Sources said there were “serious concerns” within the Met that they were investigating a “foreign” case over which they had no jurisdiction.
Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann, of Rothley, Leicestershire, are convinced she is still alive. She was taken in May 2007 from a holiday apartment on the Algarve.
It does look more like a rehash as its almost identical in content.

Well found, Greenink. Yes, it does seem to be a rehash - but why has it appeared today? What fresh devilry is this?

I have to admit my first thought was not "devilry" but simple incompetence on the part of the journalist. Too many examples of the latter in recent years in both UK and especially PT.

Something odd is going on, with that old news being recycled right now. It would be ironic indeed if Birch was on the right lines about Team Gonc planting evidence; if that got out, it certainly would damage relations between the UK and Portugal.

That thought had gone through my mind. He really is having a go at Amaral.
And of course such shenanigans from Amaral could equally fit an abduction scenario as the ludicrous Birch idea that Gerry jumped over an unknown persons fence and did a bit of gardening part way through having dinner.

I think those unseen papers are more likely to contain rude remarks and critisisms by The Brit Police about The Portuguese incompetence by The PJ in general and Amaral in particular.
And it wasn't so much the Car as the Clothing that raised concerns. These clothes must have been washed and aired several times during the preceding months. And I don't care what anyone says, washing will get rid of Cadaver Odour, presuming that there ever was any.
The transportation of the clothing was very dodgy, and the supposed odour was very selective, so who knows what The PJ did to those clothes.
