Protest from attorneys of Chaves against losing cases of High Court Civil and Criminal to Vila Real
Marinho Pinto: Courts "are not pieces on the board," the Ministry of Justice
The chairman of the Lawyer´s Association, Antonio Marinho e Pinto, said on Monday that the courts "are not chess pieces on the board the whims of bureaucrats in the Ministry of Justice" to be moved without criteria.
In protest Chaves lawyers against loss of processes Grande Instance for Civil and Criminal Vila Real, at 68 kilometers, the official said it is important the justice minister out of his office and travel the country to stop making laws and "alleged reforms "with" bureaucrats "who fill his ministry.
"The reform is a huge mistake, with very serious consequences for the country, so I hope that does not come into force," said Marinho Pinto, adding that "the minister stirs citizens' rights with the voluptuousness with which Charlie Chaplin moved the globe in the film 'The Great Dictator'. "
Instead of making reforms "absurd", the president believes that Paula Teixeira da Cruz should have the "modesty" of talking with citizens, who serves justice, mayors, lawyers and magistrates.
"This reform is the result of those living in closed bunker of their certainties and lacks the humility to contact the country," he said.
According to the chairperson, for "these people", at the North of Santarém is all the same, do not know the country and then make bad decisions, which is "regrettable."
The downgrading of the Court of Chaves is "crazy", according to Marinho e Pinto, because it will force some people to do "over 200 miles" to get to Vila Real.
"Nobody has the right to have a court in the backyard, but nobody has to walk 200, 150 or 100 kilometers to access justice. If a murder occurred in Chaves, why does it have to be a trial in Vila Real," questioned.
The 70 Chaves lawyers in protest against the loss of skills to the Court of Vila Real, today paraded through the streets in toga and suspended until November 3rd all steps, including urgent.
Opening the second day of parliamentary journeys PSD and CDS on Saturday, Paula Teixeira da Cruz made reference to strategic changes in justice, Marinho Pinto says "ignore" such changes, because, since taking office walking to communicate measurements.
"The lady minister is giving good news of changes to the media to stir, but the aim is to divert the country's attention from other more serious problems," he said.
As for the promise to fight impunity for economic crimes, Marinho Pinto believes that these statements are nothing more than "self-publicity" and therefore declined to comment.
