I was rather troubled by the fact that Hewlett totally refused to help. He knew who the Gypsies were that tried to buy his daughter. And he had no Alibi for that day.

It's at the back of my mind that he claimed he was with some teenage girl, Sabot, but I stand to be corrected.

I find it troubling that the McCann-haters try to pooh-pooh his possible involvement by claiming he was 'miles away' from PDL on May 3rd. Hello? There are these new-fangled things called 'cars'; yes, there are, and 'cars' travel faster than horses, incredible though it may seem.

My idea of 'miles away' would be up in the north of Portugal, not in another part of the Algarve.

As I say, I doubt if he was directly involved, but given his foul habits, and the low-life circles he moved in, it is entirely possible that he took important information to his grave with him.

Incidentally, it is beyond my comprehension how any woman could knowingly marry and have children with a creature like him....
