Two Children Among Six Dead In Stabbing

9:27pm UK, Sunday August 14, 2011

Six people, including two children are dead after a knife attack at a house on Jersey.

A 30-year-old man is in police custody in hospital after undergoing surgery.
Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident however they have launched a murder investigation after the incident on Upper Midvale Road.
Some of the attacks took place inside the flat and some on the street.
One witness told reporters he saw police come running out of the flat holding a small child which was taken to hospital.
He said he believed the victims were members of the same family.
Police say they have not yet established the identity of the victims and are appealing for witnesses.
Stewart Gull of Jersey police said the incident had "shaken the force."
He said: "It goes without saying that when you are dealing with multiple deaths, of men and women and, in particular young children, you would be inhuman not to be shaken yourself."
Staff at Jersey's hospital were called in on their day off to help with the incident.
