Oh Dear. They are in a terrible lather about The Accounts. Almost foaming at the mouth with glee. Of what, one might wonder? Nothing is going to happen. Okay.

You see what none of you understand is that Companies House, is only there to deal with the Funds Account's ...not the millions of firms that have to send in their returns as well...no..they get pushed to one side and they all deal with the Funds returns.
Do the Hounders not have at least one brain cell between them?

Oh and also, you can choose which date to do your returns... April to April, Jan to Dec, March to Feb if you want to...it doesn't matter, all that matters is they RECEIVE the paperwork before the agreed date before you get a fine...it can take upto three months before you get a bill for what you owe...so that says how far behind they are..

As for phoning up and just asking someone about the details on the tax returns....do me a favour, we all know, even the hounders would know...NOBODY WOULD GIVE ANY DETAILS OUT OVER THE PHONE. Be good though as it would be easy to trace who called, as all calls are recorded there, and phone numbers are shown up with each call...

Every company must deliver an annual return to Companies House at least once every 12 months. The company's director(s) and the secretary (where applicable), are responsible for ensuring that they deliver the annual return to Companies House within 28 days after the anniversary of incorporation of a company or of the anniversary of the made-up date of the last annual return.

Private companies have 9 months to submit their accounts to Companies House after the end of each accounting reference period.

How long do I have to file my company's first accounts?

If you are filing your company's first accounts and those accounts cover a period of more than 12 months, you must deliver them to Companies House:

within 21 months of the date of incorporation for private companies, or
within 18 months of the date of incorporation for public companies, or
3 months from the accounting reference date, whichever is longer.
The deadline for delivery to Companies House is calculated to the exact day.

For example, a private company incorporated on 1 January 2011 with an accounting reference date of 31 January has until midnight on 1 October 2012 (21 months from the date of incorporation) to deliver its accounts, not 31 October.

If the first accounts cover a period of 12 months or less, the normal times allowed for delivering accounts apply

I assume they get this 'idea' that if they ring up some government establishment they will be given any details they request from that idiot solicitor chappie that seems to be spearheading all this. You would need the reference number, the date the accounts were due and probably certain information only known to the actual company members, or their accountant. And implying you are a McCann will get you precisely nowhere!! LL

It might be a very good idea for the McCann-haters to stop making up forum myths about supposed 'fines'.

They might also like to try grasping the idea that there are other companies in the UK submitting accounts at the end of the financial year, and that, astounding as it may seem to them the No Stone accounts do not automatically go to the front of the queue for publication.

Those of us who are also on the Jill Havern forum know how much time (and therefore money) is spent by people at Carter-Ruck reading that site to find things that are too close to home! I feel very proud that one of my postings (relating to a certain fund director's sleazy Internet friends) was amongst those deleted after C-R complained.

I don't think the restricted fund is money from the publisher. It seems more likely it is the serialisation payment from NI which Brooks at Leveson said was about £1/2 million. If so it is interesting that NI imposed conditions on its use and that it is described as a "donation" and apparently untaxed when the taxpayer is footing the bill for an expensive SY review
