he lives at 66 Chippingfield, 80 sold for £186,000 last August.
But Bennett owned his house before then...about 10th years ago in fact... So has he already sold it then

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
£18,000 is dead cheap for a house in the UK. More like the price you'd pay for a one-room bedsit in Canning Town. Average price at the end of last year was about £230,000 for an average 2 up, 2 down house. Depends also on whether he has a mortgage on there, probably not though because of his age. But it's tat land. I bought a 3 bed semi to live in last year for 80K. In a decent street in a decent down, in decent nick. Average house prices are a load of baloney.
the link I have given is to SOLD house prices in his street. Not what they think they might sell for, WHAT they have sold for. He is sitting on £150,000 plus. Now that might seem like small change to some, but to others it's a flamin fortune! ANd it's half of what the libelling is going to cost him

Tony,
Whatever happens next week, whatever the decision, always remember that you have started a flame which will never go out.
Even if you are permanently silenced, that is not the end.
Not even the beginning of the end.
It is the end of the beginning.
The McCanns know that.
Let us paraphrase Latimer, Chaplain to the previous King, as he and Ridley, Bishop of London, burned at the stake,
"Be of good comfort, and play the man, Master Bennett; you shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England and Portugal, as we trust shall never be put out."
No he would not say that about Bennett. In fact this would be more like it.

That's hilarious.
Anyone would think from that melodramatic bombast, that Bennett's head was going to be stuck on a spike above Tower Bridge....an idea that is not without a certain charm, admittedly.
And isn't it nice of pretendypete to urge Bennett on to martyrdom when he himself is safely out of the way, with his feet up beside a Spanish swimming pool?

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
As to the other legal process going on at present in which sacrifice and heroism, as against wind-baggery and self-publicising, are in rather short supply – best to say little except those words of Marx: history repeats itself, first as tragedy and then as farce.
Smiffy doesn't seem so entranced with Bennett.

Hounder attempting to explain why some 2,000 members never post..
I expect a lot of people just like to read and, of course, you have to be logged in to send private messages or have a look around the forum, like the members lounge, gagged section and even the members list.
Especially if you're employed by Carter Ruck. Or the press.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
Tugendhat judgment to be handed down **10.30AM** on Thurs 21 Feb in McCanns v Bennett
Tony Bennett Today at 12:32 pm
I have just been notified now that the handing-down of the judgment has been brought forward 1.5 hours to 10.30am on Thursday 21 February - giving this a separate thread so everyone is aware of the change.
It will be in COURT 14, Royal Courts of Justice.
I can't by any means guarantee to treat those coming along to a bite to eat and a drink after the hearing this time* as I have to prepare myself for the fact that the Court has the means to transport a guilty contemnor straight to prison from Court 14.
[ * Which was entirely thanks to Nina's generosity ]

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
So Bennett didn't actually treat anyone then. But who in their right mind would have expected it? And who's paying next time? It won't be Bennett even if he is there. Which he will be. He's never missed a free meal yet.

Doncha just love the way he's urging Bennett to martyrdom from the safety of Spain?
He isn't the Respected Member who is actually a Mole, is he? He did helpfully prove how easy it is to open the shutters of 5a from the outside.....

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
Good old Nina. Can't have a "pensioner" paying.
do you also notice the way he is atill playing the victim "I can't by any means guarantee to treat those coming along to a bite to eat and a drink after the hearing this time* as I have to prepare myself for the fact that the Court has the means to transport a guilty contemnor straight to prison from Court 14."
Well - the McCanns have stated on several occasions that they do not TB imprisoned, or even punished - they just want him to stop his accusuations and libels.
But in the end it is up to Tugendhut. He may possibly feel that, having experienced TB on a few occasions that they only way to shut him up and make him keep the undertaking that he signed of his own free will, is to lock him up. And the ONLY person to blame for that would be....
Anthony J Bennett.

Yes J-S. On his own head be it.
As for the bite to eat and a drink, he wasn't treating them in the first place. This is Debs Does Kirwans all over again.
