Another member of the group, Sean Duffy was jailed for his participation in the online attacks. The attacks are similar to the personal attacks that Kate McCann now suffers. In one attack Natasha’s mother was taunted with online abuse accusing her daughter of being a “whore” shortly before the school girl’s funeral.

Good God. What terrible family lives they must lead if this is how they spend their leisure time. Especially when they know that this garbage isn't going to get anyone arrested, except perhaps them.
So, America allows them to do and say these things? It's way past time America sorted out it's First Amendment if this is the case.

IMO, the First Amendment is abused by these creatures, like so much else. I doubt if the Founding Fathers thought it would ever be used as an excuse for hate speech against innocent people; it was supposed to let citizens speak out against tyrannical governments.

Show me someone wrapping themselves in the 'free speech' banner and I'll show you a hypocrite and bully....

But there is a danger that these people could affect Justice. Juries are made up of ordinary people who could be affected by Public Opinion, especially when spear headed by the likes of Nancy Grace and that cretin Pat Brown. No one can any longer say that they haven't heard anything about a case, or even that they have not been affected by what they have been told. And I am seriously not sure that some of these people will be stopped by whatever filter is in place.
I could convince a Jury Selection that I was unbiased with no trouble whatsoever. Whether or not I was would only be for me to know.
Fortunately, The Jury in The Casey Anthony Trial weren't stupid, but don't tell me that The Prosecution wasn't affected by Public Opinion.

Well, the prosecution in that case was trying to create public opinion, when they would have been better employed building a case they could prove.....

Come on, Bonny, even the trial reporters were shocked when she was acquitted, when anyone with half a brain who watched the trial could see that The Prosecution was grandstanding on what The Media was saying.
My opinion of what likely happened to that child is irrelevant. But they didn't convince me that Casey had killed her daughter.

My own opinion is that she did, Sabot, BUT - did the prosecution prove it? No, they didn't. I suspect the jury might even have convicted her if it hadn't been a death penalty case, but that's by the by.

IMO, the media and the prosecution both underestimated the jurors.

It's easy to think those lunatics on twitter are more important than they really are. It's interesting to keep track of just how much of their abuse gets retweeted - the answer is very little. Like their failed petitions and failed fundraising; they make a lot of noise and are extremely unpleasant, but no-one is actually listening to them.

And they are geniuses at repelling people - look at Bubba abusing Jim Gamble, and making a total tw@t of himself in the process.
