Passenger bus hold armed robber

A man of 24 years was arrested by popular this Friday, when he was allegedly robbing passengers of a bus of Transportes Sul do Tejo, in Monte de Caparica, Almada, a company source said.

"The bus of Transportes Sul do Tejo was standing near the station of Pragal, pending service due to a problem, when a passenger with a knife, began to assault others," he explained.

According to the same source, the driver realized what was happening and managed to grab the weapon when the assailant approached, allegedly trying to steal it. Other passengers intervened immediately.

"The driver managed to pull his knife and, with the help of other passengers, [the suspect] was held until the arrival of GNR. There were no injuries and the driver is also fine," he added.

The GNR said that it happened around 6:40 hours.

The detainee will now be presented to the Court of Almada.

Where the bus passengers and the driver will be promptly banged up for assault, theft (of a knife) and restraint of trade.
