He behaved himself perfectly - just think of the cheers he would have got if he'd dropped it on Cameron's empty head. 

Many TV sets north of the Border were at risk yesterday, when a couple of commentators declared, It's just like 1966!

That, as we are never allowed to forget, is the occasion nearly 50 years ago when our southerly neighbours won some football thingy.

There are two obvious differences, of course.

1. Andy Murray isn't English.

2. He didn't cheat to win.  

I thought he did fantastically well.

Look at the expression on Cameron's face when he sees the Saltire.... 

He looks like he'd like to laugh?

He should know by now not to sit near Wee Eck, something always happens. Really, Cameron should have grabbed the other end and helped wave it - that would have been a once-in-a-lifetime publicity coup for the Tories.

He should have done.  

Andy Murray ... a fantastic GREAT BRITISH tennis player .

  

He's only 'British' because he won, if he'd lost, he would have been 'the Scots tennis player' again.

When I was in Scotland a few years ago, a bloke told me that when John Motson was on the telly commentating on England football, Scots would all sit around waiting for the words he would always say:

"When England won the World Cup in 1966."

Yup, BomDia, 1966 is ALWAYS dragged up - happened a few times on Sunday, after Andy's win.
