Madeleine McCann investigation moving forward
By Athira Nair, 8/8/2013
As the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann moves forward, Gerry McCann is taking a moment to appreciate the work Scotland Yard has done so far.
Madeleine McCann disappeared from a Portuguese resort when she was 3 years old back in May 2007. According to People, Scotland Yard investigators announced on July 4 that she might still be alive, and they were preparing to take the investigation to Portugal.
After participating in the Virgin Active Triathalon on July 28 to raise money for a charity named "Missing People," McCann said, "We have been incredibly fortunate in the last two years to have the Metropolitan Police reviewing the case and now actively investigating."
The McCanns had been pressuring Prime Minister David Gordon to order the London Metropolitan Police to re-open the case, as the Portuguese Police had closed it in July 2008. Gerry McCann said of the need for the investigation, "It is very unlikely that someone is just going to walk up and say, 'Here she is,'" he says. "So you have got to chase it."
According to the Daily Mirror, the investigators' trip to the crime scene might involve interviews, conducting searches and possibly even arrests.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood said,“We remain committed to finding out what happened to Madeleine. Everything we do is utterly focused on her best interests. We continue to believe there is a possibility she is alive. We remain in close contact with Kate and Gerry McCann.”
Investigators say they currently have 38 suspects identified who are in five different countries. "I think the information that came in early on is probably the most important," Gerry McCann said.
"You never know where it will lead. All we know is that at the very least they are eliminating things and there are some very good lines of inquiry. So you have got to explore them."

Re: Madeleine McCann investigation moving forward
After reading the comment that the early information is the way to go (my words) it makes me even more sick about Amoral's botched investigation.
To think that the poor girl was at his mercy.....grrrrrrr
