North Korea Has Executed Leader's Uncle



The once-powerful uncle of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has been executed for a string of alleged crimes.

State news agency KCNA announced his death early on Friday, branding the once-powerful Jang Song-Thaek a "traitor".

Jang was executed on Thursday shortly after a special military trial, the agency reported.

The announcement comes days after Pyongyang announced that Jang had been removed from all his posts because of allegations of corruption, drug use, gambling, womanising and generally leading a "dissolute and depraved life".

He was once considered the second most powerful official in the North.

He was seen as helping Kim Jong-Un consolidate power after the death of his father, Kim Jong Il, two years ago.

Jang was the latest and most significant in a series of personnel reshuffles that Kim has conducted in an apparent effort to bolster his power.

I don't think 'reshuffle' quite covers executing your uncle, somehow....

I wonder, at what point will the other generals start worrying about their own hides and put a bullet in the Dear Leader?

I don't know much about the machinations of North Korean politics, Lily, that's more LL's department, but if he can execute his uncle, then none of the generals are safe?

And it's not long since he had some ex-girlfriend shot.

He's certainly a piece of work.   

I asked my daughter about this and she says the consensus is that it is a power struggle, fat spoon banger being totally out of his depth and this is feeding his obvious latent paranoia. If it explodes then he won't be the first tyrant to get a bullet in his head. LL

Shocking but not surprising. But someone is going to have to deal with him.

In its announcement of the sentence, the North Korean regime did not mince its words. Jang was ‘despicable human scum’, who was ‘worse than a dog’.
Furthermore, he ‘perpetrated thrice-cursed acts of treachery in betrayal of such profound trust and warmest paternal love shown by the Party and the leader for him’.
His supposed crimes against the regime included having ‘improper relations with several women’ and having ‘wined and dined at back parlours of deluxe restaurants’.
In addition, Jang was said to have ‘squandered foreign currency at casinos while he was receiving medical treatment in a foreign country under the care of the party’.
Worst of all perhaps, in the twisted logic of this supposed workers’ paradise, was that Jang was guilty of ‘such factional acts as dreaming different dreams’.

No doubt the now-deceased uncle stood by and did nothing while others were executed by his ghastly nephew; best thing that could happen is for the other generals to realise it is likely to be them next and shoot the Dear Leader.

Mrs Dictator Kim should get him while he's sleeping.   

My daughter says fatty spoonbanger had his uncle machine-gunned to death. The NKs really need to do somethung drastic about him and sooner rather than later. LL

Hopefully, assorted generals will be wondering which of them its going to be next and decide to take pre-emptive action?

It's only a question of time.......

And what about his poor wife? I'm not putting anything on her chances.

All tyrants are the same, and they all end the same way. The fat spoonbanger will go the way of Nero sooner or later - the sooner the better.

His latest move is to purge the press and media, ie internet, of all and any reference to his uncle. It does look like an internal power struggle of some sort as my daughter's husband says.

I don't know. He is such a fat and ugly little man, which must be his own worst nightmare. If only it was that simple. I don't know what breeds demi gods, but they are never their own people. But neither do I know if someone will bump him off. The Regime needs some idiot like him.
