Re: Express: Spy plane clue to Maddie Mystery
Oh, a bit of peering reveals that it isn't, it's from the Portuguese Air Force.
A spy plane on a NATO exercise may have captured an aerial image of the person who abducted Madeleine McCann, it was claimed last night.
A Portuguese military aircraft took photos of the Algarve coastline on the day the three-year-old disappeared, says British military expert Phillip Borden.
He claims the photographs were clear enough to identify buildings and people's faces and were offered to Portuguese police when Nato officials later learned of Madeleine's disappearance,' Mr Borden said.

This isn't quite so bad as usual, Pedro. I seem to recall there was a NATO exercise going on, so there would be nothing unusual about your air force taking aerial photos.
I don't know if faces would show, but buildings certainly would, as would cars. There's probably nothing in it, though, but it is less stupid than the satellite nonsense.

I seem to recall there was a NATO exercise going on definitely rings a bell.
Will await the rest of the article. It was an understandable finger point at Levy.

Yes - I just assumed, like everyone else, that it was that bl**dy satellite again. When in fact it would have been a matter of course for the Portuguese Air Force to be taking photos.
Which probably won't show anything relevant, but is at least in the realms of the possible.

@sitheran @TrulyJudy73 Interesting they use the word disappearance & not abduction, but its probably a load of nonsense.

Re: Express: Spy plane clue to Maddie Mystery
Why are they so STUPID?
It would be rather interesting if the spy plane captured all sorts of images of certain people who believed they weren't being noticed or photographed at particular times. Or perhaps captured images which proved certain people were NOT where they said they were at particular times...?
Edited to add: If I were one of those people and suddenly realized the possible implications of this story - whether it's true or not - I would actually be quite worried.
Faces? In the dark, at the time Madeleine went missing?
Cars and buildings, yes with the proper equipment. Anything else - they're watching too much NCIS.
And it clearly isn't a 'spy plane' despite the lurid headline. Why on earth would a Portuguese military plane be spying on Portugal?
Oh wait, I know. Taking routine photos of a naval exercise off your coast isn't nearly as exciting as 'spy planes'.

Re: Express: Spy plane clue to Maddie Mystery
Yes, well, not so stupid if you think as they do.
The McCanns are figures on the world stage who have unknown power and influence, you know. This operation was so huge that everything was planned out well in advance. That way, Portugal could have their spy planes (disguised as ordinary military ones) to take the photos. It is well known that Amoral would need an iron clad ACE just about now.
Easy really.....

Re: Express: Spy plane clue to Maddie Mystery
After my previous post I read this from a hounder.
I had mentioned on another thread about the huge Mandela media coverage and how( imo )a McCann story always comes out to overshadow any major event coverage or will catch the tail ends of its publicity..and well, well, well...here we are.
So predictable
Sure is predictable. Every single time......they are so McCann-centric because their lives are.

EXCLUSIVE: Nato spy plane 'may have photographed Madeleine McCann abduction'
A SPY plane on a Nato exercise may have captured an aerial image of the person who abducted Madeleine McCann, it was claimed last night.
By: James Murray
Published: Sun, December 15, 2013
A Portuguese military aircraft took photos of the Algarve coastline on the day the three-year-old disappeared, says British military expert Philip Burden.
He claims the images were clear enough to identify buildings and people’s faces and were offered to Portuguese police when Nato officials later learned of Madeleine’s disappearance. Mr Burden said: “The aircraft may provide a new lead in the hunt for Madeleine. During the early and late evening of May 3, 2007, the day Madeleine disappeared from the holiday resort of Praia da Luz, the plane took aerial photos of that stretch of the Algarve.
"It was on a Nato training exercise and had been used on similar missions over other European countries at other times."
Writer Mr Burden added: "According to my source, strips of film were later passed to the Portuguese police following their appeal for information about Madeleine's disappearance.
"I'm told that there were a number of low-level passes over the resort as part of a lengthy photo reconnaissance training mission. Although the light was fading, people and buildings could be clearly seen."
Portuguese police thanked the Portuguese Air Force for sending the film at the time but the pictures were not evident when secret police files were published later.
Asked to confirm or deny the claims, a Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We are not giving a running commentary."
If good images exist, they could prove vital in establishing what was going on at crucial times around the Ocean Club holiday complex. Spy cameras are so sophisticated they can pick out the registration number of vehicles and, in ideal conditions, tell the colour of a person's eyes.
The claims come at an emotional time for Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, as they prepare to celebrate Christmas with eight-year-old twins Sean and Amelie, with their missing daughter very much at the centre of their thoughts.
On Monday Kate was close to tears at a service at St Martin-in-the-Fields church in London arranged by the charity Missing People, for whom she is an ambassador.
Kate read the words of the Billie Holliday classic I'll Be Seeing You, which moved many in the packed congregation. The lyrics, particularly poignant at this time of year, include the lines: "I'll be seeing you, in all the old familiar places."
Kate's reading gave strength and encouragement to other parents facing the same heart-wrenching void in their lives.
Charity patron Sir Trevor McDonald, the former ITV newsreader, welcomed guests to the service marking the 20th anniversary of the charity.
Sir Trevor said: "It represents a time, if only brief, for those of us who have not been personally affected by the disappearance of someone we love to join in solidarity with those of you here tonight who are living in limbo, with all the grief and hope that brings."
A particularly moving part of the service came when Peter Boxell spoke of his feelings over the disappearance of his son Lee, who vanished in Sutton, Surrey, in 1988, aged just 15. Mr Boxell said: "For many months, Christine and I were afraid to leave the house in case we missed a call from Lee."

Apparently these pictures were passed to The PJ at the time, but no sign of them anywhere in The Files.

Re: Express: Spy plane clue to Maddie Mystery
Wonder if Gonzo and Levy made up all that conspiraloon sh*te about 'satellites' in an attempt to cover up something else?
That he hadn't bothered to look at the rather more mundane photos taken by his own country's military. Which would NOT show faces but would show buildings, cars, boats, etc.

Very revealing to see the frantic Team Gonc efforts to discredit the writer of this piece because he's also written about UFOs. Hardly unusual nowadays, as they would know if they read anything more demanding than the Lucky Pants online bingo board, or watched anything more demanding than the revolting Jeremy Kyle.
Anyway, Icke won't be pleased with them - an absolute believe in alien life and Hollow Earth theory is compulsory if they want to be a true Conspiraloon.

Re: Express: Spy plane clue to Maddie Mystery
Amaral was only interested in anything that could implicate Gerry and or Kate. Everything else was discarded regardless of what might have been discovered.

Phew, thank goodness at least one of the hounders has taken care to toe the Lizard line:
Maybe the spy plane is one of obamba's drones?
There's a very obvious flaw in that, but then, they always were reality-challenged.

Re: Express: Spy plane clue to Maddie Mystery
Thing is, Sabot, under the 'spy plane' hyperpole, this actually isn't a stupid story.
There would be nothing at all odd about the Portuguese military taking photos of the area; how do the muppets think air-sea rescue, for instance, get up-to-date information for maps, etc? By sending someone around the coast on a horse with a bit of string and a pencil?
The technology has been around for many, many decades.
It gets stupid when it's turned into a 'spy plane' that can 'see faces'.

Re: Express: Spy plane clue to Maddie Mystery
I do agree, Bonny.
I think that Amaral with the aid of Levy was trying to cover up covering up anything that might help The McCanns and put the kybosh on Amaral's book. Hence all the nonsense about satellites that was never going to go anywhere, other than to leave a suspicion.
Am I correct in believing that satellite cameras are superior to aeroplane cameras? This could suggest that something was seen that actually wasn't seen at all.

Re: Express: Spy plane clue to Maddie Mystery
I have absolutely no idea which is 'best', Sabot, I suspect it may depend on the circumstances, and what the images are for?
Probably just a coincidence, but remember Gonzo refused to hold a reconstruction just after Madeleine disappeared because it would have meant closing the airspace over PDL? It was such a ridiculous excuse, we've wondered before now what he was scared of.
Main point is, there is nothing odd or James Bond-ish about planes taking photos - they've been doing it for about 100 years now.

Re: Express: Spy plane clue to Maddie Mystery
If I remember correctly, Bonny, it was said that the satellite had been directed elsewhere that night because of the Nato Exercise, so only the aeroplane was taking photographs of Praia da Luz. So how did the plane morph into a satellite, and why haven't we heard anything about the plane before, not even in The Files, especially as these photos were given to The PJ.
Someone was trying to cover up something. Or deliberately trying to confuse the issue. Now, I wonder who that could have been?
