Pope Francis laments scandals in the Church and speaks of " defeat of the priests "

On the day that a delegation from the Vatican responded publicly for the first time , questions about sexual abuse by priests , the Pope Francis stressed that the Church " should be ashamed " of repeated scandals involving members of the clergy .

" So many do not even want to mention , but we all know. Scandals that some paid dearly . And it is well . Should therefore be the shame of the Church ," said Francisco , talking about " defeat of the priests."

In Geneva , the UN Committee on the Rights of the Childquestioned Monsignor Silvano Tomasi the ambassador to the Vatican was questioned about the alleged cover-up of cases of pedophile priests .
