Re: Pope meets Fidel Castro
They are both old men with things on their consciences. I don't suppose that either of them set about being truly bad men.
Castro thought he was doing the best for the peasants, and any old Pope probably thought the same thing.
I am not an even remotely a Religious person. In fact, i gave up on the concept of a recognisable God many moons ago. So heaven alone knows what those two found to talk about. I am only certain that it won't interest me.

Well, I would rather see world leaders speaking to each other, than threatening to wage war, Sabot.

On TV, someone said they discussed books, music and growing old - both are in their 80s. Castro met John Paul II twice, once in 1996 and again in 1998. LLbb1 wrote:Well, I would rather see world leaders speaking to each other, than threatening to wage war, Sabot.

And who exactly are these World Leaders? Neither of them have the remotest idea of what is going on.
I think I might become an Anarchist.

Oh, thanks, LL, I hadn't realised Castro had met the previous Pope.

Re: Pope meets Fidel Castro
Some time around 1963 when I had two very small babies and lived in a Caravan at the end of a Royal Naval Air Station Runway, and their Father was away at Sea, I nearly died of terror because Krushchev was steaming his way towards helping Cuba. I will never forget how afraid I was for my babies. It was almost worse than what I had perceived of World War Two, during which I was terrorised almost from the day that I was born.
And The Pope, who ever he is at the moment, ain't much different.
But this is only my perception. Personally, I couldn't give a feck for what they talked about.
