The Weather Thread
Summer having passed by in an endless downpour, winter is fast approaching:
Storms? Then the Big Freeze? When is this global warming going to start, please?

Re: The Weather Thread
Oh joy! The country is going to grind to a standstill because it is wet and windy, move a bit, then grind to a standstill again because of fallen leaves.
And then it will snow.

Re: The Weather Thread
Apologies Bonny as I haven't read about this but, will the storm lose power on its way to you or gain it?
ETA: After looking at the photo above, it looks like it will gain. Sorry.....

Re: The Weather Thread
Unpleasant, but hopefully it won't do too much damage -for instance, wooden houses of the kind there seem to be many of are just about unheard of in the UK.
It's trees, etc that are the real danger, Lily.

Re: The Weather Thread
Trees which are close to houses are definitely potentially serious problems, Bonny. Same thing when they fall on cars and so on.

Re: The Weather Thread
Well, I have to say that we have had a bit of Global Warming here this year, although not as much as I would have liked.
Raining on and off for the last couple of days, but much relief from local farmers for that.
We get a couple of trees down every year but the local Communes are well used to dealing with that. And anyway, there are at least five different ways to get anywhere, so even Sat Navs are lost for choice.
Will it freeze this Winter? This is a topic of great interest in Bars and Community Halls everywhere. This should give you all some idea of the state of everyone's Social Life.

See, we don't go in for any of this cissy 'evacuating' stuff because it's a bit windy...

Oh my God, Rhodes! Thank Heavens no-one was in its way! It's odd, but time and again, it seems to be newer structures that give way in bad weather. It's as if the designers have forgotten that the UK gets bad weather?

Some amazing pics there. I don't much fancy being on those planes - sideways landings are never good...

Me neither, Rhodes, and the thought of being trapped in one of Ryanair's flying cattle trucks in those conditions...not nice.

Hot, Hot, Hot! Britain Drenched In Sunshine
Britain is set to bask in glorious sunshine for the next few days as a spell of unseasonably hot weather sweeps across the country.
Sunbathers enjoy the unusually hot weather on Brighton beach this week
A high-pressure system over the Continent means we are in for a five-day stretch of sunny skies and temperatures well above average for the time of year.
The hot, dry air from southern Europe is expected to push temperatures up to highs of 28C by Saturday – a good 10C above the norm, and hotter than parts of Hawaii.
