What? Does the hounder really expect the Yard to drive a coach and horses through the Official Secrets Act, and trash every concept of confidentiality, to give a shower of armchair defectives fuel for another five years of one-handed typing?

And the PJ files were NOT supposed to be published. Portugal foolishly trusted the likes of Levy and his ilk to use them responsibly, not to spread copies of the DVD everywhere, and for amateur mistranslations to appear all over the internet.

These creatures really are reality-challenged.

I am so tired of all of this. Portugal is a Fascist State run by The Fascist PJ, and the mainly Fascist Judiciary.
Tragically, but for the abduction of Madeleine McCann, the likes of we would have remained in ignorance. So I am not placing too much faith in the cooperation of Portugal at this time.

It's not all like that, but sadly, there have been too many mini police states within the supposedly democratic state - the Algarve being a prime example.

It will be interesting to see where - and who - this business of bad elements in the PJ taking bribes from drug traffickers leads to.

The Mini Police States seem fairly wide spread to me. Certainly Lisbon, and now even in Madeira. And these people do all move around.
However, I don't suppose that Amaral would be the only one to be implicated.

Any news on Cristovao and his little sidelines?

Last we heard, he'd opted for a part-jury trial, Sabot, and whatever it is happens in Portugal to select their mini-juries were underway. I do hope that isn't so he can find new people to intimidate.   

But it will be to intimidate them. And The Judges as well, if what I have seen is anything to go by.

They are the kind of tough guys who would be terrified if just one person bigger than themselves caught them in a dark lonely alleyway.....

If Cristovao has lost his money, and his power, he won't be intimidating anyone, Sabot. He does seem to have fallen a very long way, and his name is mud in Portugal.

It was interesting to see what the first two names that came to mind in the Portuguese comments on the drug bribes story - Amaral and Cristovao.

Now, the dirty cops involved could be anyone - but very revealing that those two were the first Portuguese folk thought of.

Portugal fights back.  But then we knew that this was happening.  The people don't need to be afraid anymore.
Quite spectacular, really.  And they have done it all to themselves.

Poor Madeleine.

Here's the thing. Dirty cops are automatically incompetent cops. They can't actually 'investigate' anything, because all that drives them is self-interest.

Child goes missing? Round up the Usual Suspects, slap them around a bit, make sure they're smeared in the gutter press and banged away and forgotten about, and go back to your happy, if corrupt, existence as the Big Man.

The 'slapping around' bit didn't work with the McCanns, not least because the British Embassy knew all about previous Slapping Arounds.

And sending the wrong person to Spain on EAWs involving drugs charges. Thankfully, the Spanish police noticed they'd been sent entirely the wrong suspect.

Sadly, they seem to have gotten away with this incompetence for quite some time. Like about forty years since their inglorious Revolution when they merely changed the name of the game but not the game itself.
