Fascinating to see how easily pleased the McCann-haters are. At no point over the past few hours has it struck them as odd that the mother of the missing, but thankfully found, Madieran baby has supposedly 'confessed' to some mad scheme or other.

With the whole thing naturally being leaked to CartofMuck.

One hopes accidents on slippery police station stairs weren't involved, what with this development coming just as Gonzo loses his marbles. Paiva was sent to Madeira in disgrace, wasn't he?

Less excitable people will wait and see if anything comes of this; it wouldn't be the first time CartofMuck has aided and abetted bad elements in corrupting the Portuguese justice system.

Just a small correction. The judge for the trial rejected the McCanns' request to make a statement. They then appealed and were allowed to do so. The judge will be allowed to question them and the other lawyers will also be able to ask for clarifications through the judge.

Did Gonzo tell her to say that? to give them hope? Because that isn't what's going to happen at all, as has been explained to them repeatedly.

Or is it normal in Portugal to interrogate people who make Victim Impact statements?

Brett Clarke Olivia, I honestly believe a libel action cannot be instigated because forums like these are secluded, set up for people who want to question this case. If we were accusing the McCanns of any wrong doing in public, asserting our views onto people where we wasn't welcome, that would be a different story.

Someone really should tell the hohonumties that every word they write CAN be seen by the public, as can all their vile allegations against the McCanns and others.

Do they honestly think it can't be seen?
