Ex Madeleine McCann cop who wrote controversial book claiming toddler's body was dumped at sea goes on trial over violent robberies
Paulo Pereira Cristovao made headlines after writing a book calling for the McCanns to be arrested and claiming the toddler was dead
A FORMER Portuguese cop who claimed Madeleine McCann is dead and her body had been dumped at sea has gone on trial over a string of violent robberies allegedly carried out by criminals posing as police officers.
Paulo Pereira Cristovao, a pal of disgraced ex PJ detective Goncalo Amaral, was accused by a co-defendant of helping to mastermind two of the home raids on the opening day of the trial yesterday.
Nuno Vieira Mendes said he and Pereira Cristovao waited outside both properties while alleged accomplices with false search warrants went in posing as police officers and stole thousands of pounds.
The ex-cop made headlines after writing a book calling for the McCanns to be arrested and claiming the toddler was dead and her body had been dumped at sea.
Pereira Cristovao, who left the PJ after a torture trial Amaral was also implicated in, was arrested two years ago and accused of marking out wealthy victims for accomplices who tricked their way into homes in police uniform.
Eighteen suspects are now on trial for a string of crimes including membership of a criminal gang, robbery, kidnap, possession of a prohibited weapon and abuse of power, include three police officers and a drugs trafficker.
Pereira Cristovao, who left the PJ after a torture trial Amaral was also implicated in, was arrested two years ago and accused of marking out wealthy victims for accomplices who tricked their way into homes in police uniform
The 48-year-old has been a constant critic of Kate and Gerry McCann and called for them to be arrested for leaving their children alone in their Algarve holiday apartment after Madeleine vanished in May 3 2007.
He claimed in a 2008 book called The Star of Madeleine that the toddler was dead and her body had been dumped at sea.
His novel - based on the real police investigation which he claimed was hampered by interference from British authorities - ended with two fictional officers gazing out at the Atlantic Ocean following a huge land search.
He mysteriously claimed two of the McCanns’ holiday pals - the so-called Tapas Seven - were “fundamental” to discovering the truth about Madeleine.
The couple’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell called his comments "hurtful and distressing" and accused him of trying to profit from the McCanns’ misfortune.
The ex-cop admitted at the novel’s launch in Portugal: “I am sure Madeleine’s parents will not like the book.”
In a thinly-veiled criticism of Britain’s political involvement in the case, he added: “In their shoes, I’d behave in exactly the same way as they did during the investigation.
“I would defend myself with all the weapons I could use. The difference is that some have more weapons than others.”
Pereira Cristovao wrote his book ahead of his 2009 trial for torturing the mum and uncle of a missing girl into making a false confession while he was still a PJ inspector.
He went on to head Portugal’s association for missing children after being acquitted.
Pal Goncalo Amaral, who recently overturned a libel damages ruling over his best-selling book The Truth of The Lie which the McCanns are appealing, was found guilty of falsifying evidence in the same case.
Joana Cipriano vanished aged eight from Figueira, seven miles from Praia da Luz where Madeleine was staying, in September 2004.
Her mum Leonor and uncle Joao were sentenced to 16 years for murdering her despite their claims they had been tortured into falsely admitting blame.
Judges ruled Leonor had been injured at the PJ station in Faro - where Portuguese police are now helping Scotland Yard detectives probing Madeleine’s disappearance - but could not say how she sustained her wounds.
Pereira Cristovao’s lawyer said after his arrest over the home raids in March 2015 that client confidentiality prevented him from speaking out against many of the “false claims made against him.”
He declined to give evidence at the opening of the high-profile trial yesterday/on Wednesday which is scheduled to resume on June 22.
Last week Pereira Cristovao received a suspended four-and-a-half year prison sentence after being convicted of crimes including embezzlement while he was the vice-president of leading Portuguese football club Sporting.

Thank God the Sun has broken the silence around the utter scum at the heart of Team Amoral. Let's hope we can look forward to stories about Gonzo the Perjurer, de Almeida the Torturer, etc.
Such good friends.
Should be some wonderful bile-bursts, and hyper-carpet-chewing, from the Goncalettes today.

Re: SUN, STAR: 'Cristovao goes on trial' - organised home invasions, etc
My friends, this was taken from Correio da Manhã newspaper:
http://www.cmjornal.xl.pt/nacional/portugal/detalhe/mustafa_aponta_pereira_cristovao_como_mentor_de_assaltos_a_residencias.html
Pereira Cristóvão was the mentor of the assaults.
Accusations of Mustafa in court.
the leader of the Cheerleader of Sporting, Nuno Vieira Mendes, known as 'Mustafa', pointed out this Wednesday in court that the former Inspector of Judicial Police Paulo Pereira Cristóvão as the mastermind of attacks on two residences in Cascais and Lisbon.
Pereira Cristóvão, also former vice president of Sporting, 'Mustapha' and 16 other defendants began today to be tried in Lisbon for criminal association, theft, kidnapping, prohibited weapon possession, abuse of power and document forgery in a case related violent burglaries in the Lisbon area and the south of the Tagus river.
Before the collective of judges, "Mustafa" said it was Paulo Pereira Cristóvão who contacted him to ask him to "talk to some people" to collect a debt, and reported to the court the assault carried to the house of a businessman in Cascais, the February 27, 2014, which would, according to the former head of Sporting, one million euros.
The assault have yielded only 80,000 euros: half went to Pereira Cristóvão; 'Mustapha' and his stepbrother were 10,000 euros each, while the other four defendants, two agents of the Public Security Police, receive 20,000 euros.
The second assault occurred less than two months later, a residence in Lisbon, a person connected to a bank, which would have between three and four million euros on the floor, according to information provided by Pereira Cristóvão to mustafa .
However, the defendants eventually find no money in this residence. Accused says he is sorry 'Mustafa' reported that in both situations, he an his half-brother and Pereira Cristóvão waited in a car while the other four defendants, armed with fake search warrants and posing as policemen, rose to homes and materialized the assaults. .
"I am completely sorry I never thought that it turns out to be what is known" said 'Mustafa', adding that Pereira Cristovao, after the failure of the assault on the residence of Lisbon - which also exacerbated the unease felt within the group - even tried to speak of a third case of debt collection in the Algarve.
"But I would not hear. I never spoke to him, pulled away completely and left out of this [assaults] situation, it was not for me," said the association leader, although he admitted that he was "owed" towards the former vice president of Sporting, who always helped him while he held this position.
Next, it was questioned Mario Hugo, known as Victor Hugo, contacted by the half-brother of 'Mustafa' to "get" the performers, who took the "architecture" of the plan for the actions of the defendants who entered the homes, which were chosen by him.
"As I saw on television that there were people strolling by employees of finance to go to people's homes, I thought to get dressed in the police and make a search false," said the accused, noting that were never used weapons or violence, only " theater "that had to be done in a police search.
Victor Hugo said he was "upset" by the assaults did not result in getting the money indicated by Pereira Cristóvão, since "no one works tassel", but admitted he was sorry. The defendant, who has served 10 years in prison for robbery and other crimes, also confessed to involvement in three assault cases - on their own - in Lisbon and in the southern bank of the Tagus, two of which included the participation of two policemen . The next session was scheduled for June 22.

Thanks, Pedro.
BTW, it is perfectly acceptable to insult Gonzo's good chum Cristovao, as he has already been convicted of the football-related offences.

Not Yesterday, Jean pipes up:
Re: McCanns lodge legal bid
Post Freedom Today
Oh dear, the word disgraced has popped up again for Goncalo Amaral too.
I am probably having a senior moment but I don't recall the book written by Paolo Cristovao.
Really? Despite the fact that translations are to this day being touted on the Hounders, with the Bennett acolytes believing every word of the filthy thing?
And I suspect that most people would regard perjuring ex-cops as 'disgraced', like Amoral. Just as they would regard convicted torturers as 'disgraced', like Tavares de Almeida.

Please note, the hounders don't bother to explain why Cristovao is an 'ex-PJ officer'.
It wasn't just over the Cipriano case. It is a matter of public record that he was accused of rape - a charge which was mysteriously dropped. He was then found guilty of stealing 800 euros from his then-employers, the PJ.
I wonder why churnalists like Hounder Donn never, ever tell their fan clubs the truth about these vile people?

Irate Hounder:
Paulo Pereira Cristovao, a pal of disgraced ex PJ detective Goncalo Amaral, was accused by a co-defendant of helping to mastermind two of the home raids on the opening day of the trial on Wednesday.
………………………………………………….
How about an apology to GA for the blatant insinuation though (and not tucked away at the bottom of page 27 either)?
====
1. He is a pal of Gonzo.
2. After his conviction a few days ago on the sports-related charges, Cristovao is now on trial for organising home invasions.
3. Gonzo is disgraced - he's a convicted perjurer.
That sentence is totally accurate - unlike the lies Gonzo and co spread about the McCann family.

Gonçalo Amaral, coordinator of the Judicial Police of Portimão was made accused in the case investigating the alleged aggressions against Leonor Cipriano, which were held in October 2004. The woman complained of having been beaten to punch, kick and with a cardboard tube during informal interrogations ?? ?? that have elapsed without the defense lawyer present and without the prosecutor of the prosecutor's knowledge investigating the disappearance of the child, eight years, Leonor's daughter.
Gonçalo Amaral was at that time coordinator of the PJ in Faro and have been why it was made accused. Six inspectors Combating Banditry Central Directorate are also defendants and has been a recognition line. Four were not recognized by the complainant, who identified the other two but acquitted them of assault. Leonor Cipriano was sentenced to 16 years in prison for murder, co-authored with his brother, Joan. The child's body was never found.
Only hours after Madeleine McCann went missing, that was being reported.
Why on EARTH was Amoral ever allowed anywhere near another missing child case?

Cristóvão resigned from PJ little after Joana's case. His superiors considered that he was suffering from PTSD and wanted hi back
Liar, liar pants on fire - as usual.
He 'resigned' under a cloud after the rape allegations, and being found guilty of stealing from the PJ, as well as his conduct in the Cipriano case.
Did Adiren the Liar miss this?
11.12.2011 01:00 PJ asks suspension for researchers The Disciplinary Unit of the Judicial Police calls for the suspension of Paulo Pereira Cristóvão, Gonçalo Amaral and three inspectors PJ for alleged involvement in the case of aggressions against Leonor Cipriano, condemned by death and concealment of the corpse daughter, Joan, in 2004. A measure to Paulo Pereira Cristóvão, former PJ, makes no sense. "I was not notified of it and exonerei me of PJ in 2006, so there is no connection and can not be suspended at all. Moreover, if one is to give as proven assaults and torture after the courts do not prove nothing, then incurs a libel, "said the CM. The five were accused by prosecutors of being involved in the beating of Leonor Cipriano during an interrogation at the PJ in Portimão. CM did not get to talk to Gonçalo Amaral.

As the two chums were both out of the PJ by then, it was reported that this involved removing their 'old boy' privileges, pensions, etc.

Once & for all, Amaral was convicted for standing by the report that his day officer supplied him; alleged torturers were not guilty #McCann
So, oh wise one, if Cipriano wasn't beaten up in police custody -
THEN WHY DID THE POLICE NEED TO FALSIFY THE REPORT IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Just.....just stop it! We know you're desperate to keep a lid on this, but you're embarrassing yourself now. It's glaringly obvious from the many pictures on the internet that they were indeed friends....like this:
And do the police travel by horse and cart in Portugal, that Lisbon and Faro are considered many weeks' travel apart?
Or did Cristovao nip down to see his good buddy when there was a problem?

A problem like this, mayhap? Ex-PJ employee FSoares to Bennett:

FSoares (F*******)
"Thank you so much Mr. Benett.
Yes, I think probably the word 'plot' is the right one for tramar, looking at the examples you kindly provided.
As for my job in PJ, and since I work up here in the North - in Porto - I couldn't have access to any type of special information/knowledge about the case. Sometimes I had the feeling there was a curtain of silence around it, and it looked like nobody wanted to talk or comment the case. Once, in the Summer of 2007, I emailed that woman that we could all see on pics, dusting for prints on the shutters, but, what she replied back was completely bogus and it also looked like she wanted to avoid saying anything about the case. I then stopped. I also thought it could be due to the fact that emailing via the internal system could not be good, as the IT department could read everything, if they wanted.
Unfortunatelly, I felt obliged to send Stinky a PM about my workplace as I've explained before. Beachy wasn't a problem to me and neither is you, but Stinky 'scares' me a little. That's why I avoid posting too much nowadays as I don't trust him and have a bad vibe about him. He once implied he had a very good knowledge about Joana's case and also about the details of the alleged 'torture' commited by the officers who were brought from Lisbon, under Amaral's orders. It's fishy as he can't know nothing the rest of public knows, unless:
1) he works for local Public Prosecution - or from somewhere else and someone leaked something;
2) He's from Police and has a personal agenda against Goncalo Amaral. It doesn't look so to me, because otherwise he wouldn't be a Police basher, as he is;
3) I'm pretty convinced if he cold get my identity he would whistle about it to someone from the Prosecution. That's why I am always acting with precaution.
My name is F******a R*****. My English sucks, but if you need any kind of help for anything, please feel free to ask."

After all who is Paulo Pereira Cristovao?
Dear friends,
Because of all the controversies that arise daily, proposed me to reopen the blog as a way to alert the less attentive Sportinguistas regarding the "dossiers" of the club.
My only intention is to help the way it is permitted me, or talking openly the problems of our club with all Sportinguistas, so together we can again revive the Sporting Clube de Portugal as the country's largest club.
That said let's talk on Paulinho PJ!
POLICE CAREER
He began his career as a security, the Institute of Judicial Police and Criminal Sciences in Loures, and a few years later, contributed to the criminal investigator course, becoming inspector.
As PJ inspector, he was known to join the team that investigated the conduct of the east of mafias in Portugal, and has been one of the research team members of "Joana case".
During this period the judicial police, was accused of rape by a young [wo]man who had moved to the police, to be heard in a case of abuse of sexual abuse. According to the story goes after giving testimony in PJ, Paulo Pereira Cristóvão "offered" ride to this young [wo]man, who the next day presented violation complaint in a case that has just filed after the complainant withdrew the complaint.
In his curriculum is also included an alleged misuse of 800 euros, a sum of money seized by the police during the period that passed to combat economic crime department.
He was also charged with torturing Leonor Cipriano, which was eventually acquitted, although it has been proved in court that Leonor Cipriano was beaten savagely in the PJ's offices in Faro.
I should also note that Gonçalo Amaral was sentenced to year in prison, with suspended sentence for making false allegations and António Nunes Cardoso, who wrote the report to say that Leonor Cipriano had thrown down the stairs of the PJ's premises, was sentenced to two years and three months of document forgery by imprisonment with suspended sentence two years.....more at link, concerning football.

Imbecility is a condition, but it should have limits in public. What the F makes these #McCann fans question the integrity of a PJ Inspector?
Dear me! Someone's Inner Fascist is showing!
