I don't know how they manage to walk, let alone loot, Lily. They look utterly ridiculous, as if they don't know how to get dressed without their mummy's help.

Maybe; I read somewhere or other that it's a jail symbol to indicate that they are, er, available. I would have thought that was the very last thing such macho men would want to advertise, but none of them seem to be any too bright, just feral.

Re: America goes to the polls
I have just watched the police officer who shot Michael Brown say why he did just that. And I found this link which is an interesting read. Oh, and the Tea Party has ridiculed Michael Bown Snr's tee-shirt logo "Gone too soon". LL

Re: America goes to the polls
This is why I am none too impressed by Johnson, LL:
The story Johnson tells from this point is straightforward: a cop feels disrespected by two young men, he reasserts his power, and then things spin out of control.
Feeling 'disrespected' about everything under the sun is a gangsta thing, not a police thing.
This is pure pitchforker:
Indeed, we might never get to the truth of what happened in those two minutes on August. But the point of a trial would have been to get us closer. We would have found out if everything we thought we knew about Brown was wrong, or if Wilson's story was flawed in important ways, or if key witnesses completely broke under pressure. We would have heard real cross-examination. We would have seen the strongest case that could be mounted by both the prosecution and the defense. But now we're not going to get that chance. We're just left with these Rashomon-like testimonies, a dead 18-year-old, and a shattered family.
ALL the testimonies and evidence are available online. ALL of it. There's been a trial and Wilson has been cleared of wrong-doing. The forensic evidence backs up Wilson's version of events.
The rest is starting to sound very familiar.....If he's innocent, he's nothing to fear, why wouldn't Wilson want a trial?
As for the 'shattered family' - hypocrisy at its finest. Dead Thug wasn't living with either of his parents, but with his grandparents - he'd been 'away' for some time. His juvenile records are sealed, though there are a good few rumours floating around about those, though they haven't been confirmed.
His mother has been charged with attacking his grandmother with a metal pipe over who owed the rights to the Dead Child Saint T-shirt.
His stepfather appears to have set off Monday's riots by calling on the local thugs to 'Burn this b*tch down!'
Worth bearing in mind that Dead Thug had been smoking weed before he met his Maker; this tends not to make for rational behaviour, especially in giant bullies that like throwing their considerable weight around.

Re: America goes to the polls
I just posted it up as an example of two versions of the same story. I was reading the ins and outs of the whole debarcle. Just imagine, if you were a policewoman, well under 6ft (I don't know how tall you are) and you were faced with me, 6' 7" and aggressive, would you shoot me? Positions reversed, I would shoot, yes, but to disable, not kill. I would kneecap, or shoulder shoot. At least I would hope that is what I would do, but how does anyone know what they would do if they found themselves in a similar situation? What really angers me is the jumping on the bandwagon - on TV a commentator said that he had spoken to a resident of St Louis who had stated there were two factions, one the genuine protestors and the other the aggressors. These are the kind of hooligans we saw in Brixton in the Railton Road riots, paid thugs who were given free rides to and from the riot zone, told to loot, burn and even hurt people and, most of all, scrag the cops. No guns in Brixton, but I understand there was gunfire in Ferguson after the Grand Jury verdict. And whose bright idea was it to have a jury that was one quarter black and three quarters white? That didn't help, it should have been half and half. LL

Re: America goes to the polls
But the grand jury was ALREADY sitting, LL, and reflected the racial makeup of the whole area, not just Ferguson....not that it should make any difference. Many of the eye witnesses that confirmed Wilson's version were black themselves, and I hope to God their identities never become known, or they're dead.
Yes, I would shoot, but unfortunately, all this 'shooting to disable' business is purely the stuff of TV drama.
Worth remembering that the 2011 London riots started over a similar incident, and we got similar nonsense:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-14434318
A friend of Mr Duggan, who gave her name as Niki, 53, said marchers had wanted "justice for the family" and "something had to be done".
She said some of them lay in the road to make their point. "They're making their presence known because people are not happy," she added.
"This guy was not violent. Yes, he was involved in things but he was not an aggressive person. He had never hurt anyone."

Re: America goes to the polls
There was a lot of shooting during the rioting on Monday, LL, and some settling of scores, from the look of this:
http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2014/11/25/report-body-of-black-male-found-shot-to-death-set-on-fire-near-apartment-complex-where-michael-brown-died/
FERGUSON, Mo. (CBS St. Louis/AP) — The body of a black male was reportedly found near Canfield Green Apartments in Ferguson, the same complex where Michael Brown was fatally shot by officer Darren Wilson during an altercation Aug. 9.
KTVI-TV reports that the man, in his 20s, was shot to death and set on fire. KMOX has sent a reporter to the scene.
Let's hope it was over some drug deal, and he wasn't one of the grand jury witnesses.

Re: America goes to the polls
Sounds like a plan, LL!
This won't help matters:
http://www.nbcnews.com/news/crime-courts/two-fbi-agents-shot-barricaded-home-near-ferguson-missouri-n256466
Two FBI agents were shot at a barricaded home just miles from the protest-wracked St. Louis suburb of Ferguson early Wednesday, police said. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries after the shooting in north St. Louis County. The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. local time (4: 15 a.m. ET), NBC station KSDK reported.
Authorities in St. Louis County have been dealing with violent protests after a grand jury decided not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson over the fatal shooting of unarmed teen Michael Brown. It was not immediately clear whether the shooting was connected to the unrest.
This is a breaking news story. Please check back for updates
I take it the shooter was a gangsta idiot in the saggy pants club doing that stupid 'holding my gun sideways' thing, which is why the agents are just injured.

So sad when you actually have visited a place - we spend a month visiting with friends in St Louis, had a great time. I wonder what one of it's best known sons, the actor Vincent Price, would make of all this? LL

As you mentioned earlier, LL, an awful lot of this seems to be being stirred up by outside agitators for their own ends; trouble is never far behind Al Sharpeton, for instance.

Where you find stinking dogsh*t, you will find Al Sharpton climbing out of it. He is as rabidly racist as any KKK member. He's a Baptist minister I understand - I also understand he is involved with the White House, on which I will not comment as I am, you are well aware, apolitical and do not give opinions on subjects I am not too knowledgeable about. Religion and politics I avoid like the plague - or in this day and age, Ebola. Re: America goes to the polls
Also, a lot of the 'protestors' are awfully impressed because RT, AJ, Press TV, Chinese media, etc, are reporting on this and being outraged - which is, of course, music to the rioters' ears. It simply hasn't dawned on them that Russia, Iran, etc., couldn't give a flying XXXX about Dead Thug, and that if they tried rioting and looting in any of these 'sympathetic' countries, they would soon discover the joys of full employment in a labour camp. That's if they lived long enough.
Russia, Iran, etc., are just making the most of a golden opportunity to make America look bad.
Rioting also suits those in authority that want to militarise the police; all the legitimate questions that were being raised about that have been forgotten. Indeed, if the Rioters for Justice keep this up, the long-suffering silent majority - of all colours and creeds - that has to do boring stuff like earning a living, isn't going to care if the whole damned lot of them get run over by police Humvees.

Re: America goes to the polls
When I was living in the USA I was often appalled by the overt racism prevalent in all layers of society. I will admit to being less than enthusiastic about certain countries but that is more to do with their attitudes to each other. Who or whatever created humanity, they/he/she must have had a reason for making creatures of different colors, sizes, intelligence etc. I may be a foot plus taller than you, but other than that the only difference is I have dangly bits and you don't, and you have bumps on your frontage and I don't, oh and I am a gentleman and you are a lady. If you were green with wings, webbed feet and an antenna on your head would make no difference to me, I might even fancy you .... Oh, dear, I appear to be having a daft moment! LL

Joshua was shot in the head, CNN reports, and gasoline had been used to light his body on fire. Joshua was reportedly a friend of Dorian Johnson, the Ferguson resident who was with Michael Brown when Brown died.
Johnson seems to be very unlucky in his choice of friends....

Doubtless it would only make matters even worse, but really, he should be in the dock himself for starting all that 'Hands up don't shoot' rubbish about the deceased Gentle Giant, when the whole thing was a pack of lies.
I do hope his dead friend wasn't one of the witnesses, and has been killed because Snitches get stitches, to use that other lovely gangsta phrase.

Re: America goes to the polls
Yup. I wish they'd find some great political cause to campaign over, not a dead thug. They will achieve nothing this way; just think, they could have put all this energy into voting, into putting up candidates for Ferguson City Council, and really changed things.
Even more radical, work with the police to get the gangsta thugs in jail, instead of making $$$$ from their own community via drugs, etc.
But no, it's much easier and more exciting to riot, p*ss people off and shout empty slogans 'in memory' of a dead thug no-one in their right mind should be giving a second's thought.

I see their latest Cunning Plan is to disrupt the Macy's parade. Good luck with that one, stupid people - that should guarantee you p*ss off even more people than you've managed already.
Seriously, if they keep this up, the rest of America - whatever their skin colour may happen to be - is going to be begging Obama to set the government robocops on the whole annoying lot of them. A cynic would be forgiven for wondering if that's been Obama's aim all along.....
