They've been doing that since I was a kid, LL. It was such a regular occurrence years ago, the Bear pilots and the RAF pilots used to wave to each other, hold up family photos, that sort of thing.

If they ever did decide to do anything, the first thing we would be aware of is an EMP flash, goodbye internet, farewell electronics, ta-ta TV, and let's be nice to all those old guys that have kept steam engines going. Oh, and saddle up your pony, horses don't need microchips to work.

There are very good reasons for Bears using supposed 'outdated technology'....

Not the Stone Age, but round about 1800. Nothing we depend on will work. No explosions, no millions of dead from blasts - but you don't want to be caught in a big city should that happen. On a farm, it won't make that much difference.

Russia and China are rumoured to be decades ahead in their development, and also in switching off all the defence systems the US in particular relies on.

Facts are thin on the ground, but you may recall that unarmed Russian plane that flew over the Donald Cook in the Black Sea? My, how the sailors laughed - until they realised that they were staring at blank screens and nothing worked any more. Allegedly -the whole incident is naturally shrouded in mystery, but something happened on that ship.

It's all very interesting, and wandering Bears are the least of the things that should be worrying our Leaders.

People who are in re-enactment societies will be in great demand, Lily, due to their skills with broadswords, lances, etc. Obviously, you can make gunpowder without electricity, but you have to dig up the ingredients first - and swords never run out of ammo....

Also, bows and arrows to help out.
