In fairness, Milliband didn't lose the plot quite so much as the others...and got turned into the Phantom of the Opera for his pains.
This is the stupidest, nastiest, most deranged election I have ever seen.

How did that happen? Looks like someone said something that is actually political, and not to do with chopping off dolls' hair or the Phantom of the Opera....

Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
Till a week on Thursday, Lily - ten more days.
You know, voters in England must be sick to death of the eternal wrangling about what is going on in Scotland, it's dominating everything else. I very little idea what any of the current Big Three think of anything, besides SNP = Evil.
I wouldn't be surprised if Farage picks up a few extra votes because of it, as he (and the Greens) are the only ones whose message is something other than SNP = Evil.
Farage would probably be delighted to see the back of us; he may well think that Jocks = furriners.

Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
Well, I have watched the three main UK party leaders this morning - Milliband is currently wittering - and I had the most bizarre impression that Cameron and Clegg were both somehow acting. It was most peculiar - Cameron in particular was so OTT he sounded on the verge of hysteria.
Milliband is actually mocking the hysteria that's been coming from the Tories over the weekend, as have a good few other people:
http://www.thecourier.co.uk/news/politics/ge2015/ruth-davidson-rejects-party-colleague-s-hyperbolic-snp-warning-1.869258
The leader of the Scottish Conservatives has branded Home Secretary Theresa May “hyperbolic” after she suggested a Labour government backed by the SNP would be about the worst “constitutional crisis” the UK has faced for almost 80 years.
Ruth Davidson slapped down her senior party colleague after she told a Sunday newspaper that an alliance between the SNP and Ed Miliband would be “the biggest constitutional crisis since the abdication”, when King Edward VIII gave up the throne in 1936.
The Conservatives have repeatedly warned of what they see as the risks to the UK if the SNP is left holding the balance of power after the election.
David Cameron has likened Mr Salmond to a pickpocket, and a new Tory billboard advert shows him dressed all in black, reaching out to steal the wallet of a passer-by.
In a television interview, Ms Davidson defended her party’s overall approach to the campaign but admitted Ms May’s comments were “perhaps a bit hyperbolic even from Theresa and even from the Daily Mail who’ve been spinning it.”
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the Home Secretary had “made herself look completely and utterly stupid” with the comments.
She added: “People will look at these silly comments, and I was going to say they will treat them with contempt, but that actually attaches too much seriousness to them. People will just laugh at her.”

Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
Oh, someone else has just Murphy. Unfortunately for him, it's the boss of one of the biggest trade unions:
http://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/scottish-politics/sturgeon-westminster-parties-have-hit-the-panic-button.1430121733
Len McCluskey, general secretary of the Unite union, which is Labour's biggest donor, said he expected Mr Miliband to work with "any progressive party" if he becomes prime minister.
Speaking during a campaign visit to Scotland, Mr McCluskey told the Guardian: "I'm expecting Ed Miliband to be prime minister and, in those circumstances, I would expect him to work well with any progressive party who seeks to support the vision that he has of changing Britain for the better."
Mr McCluskey said his union's membership in Scotland was "pretty well split" between support for Labour and the SNP, adding: "It would be wrong of me to launch an attack against the SNP, who have a manifesto that is anti-austerity, which is Unite's policy, and many of the issues that they talk about are in line with the policies of my membership."
The SNP had "undoubtedly changed the contours of the political scene and we have to respond to that, in particular the trade unions", said Mr McCluskey, adding: "It's a trust issue. Whether we like it or not, the SNP appears to have gained some trust of the Scottish working class."

So, the bill for Broon's '£5,000 to each foodbank' was going to be sent to the Scottish Office, which not surprisingly, doesn't have any money to give away.
And Murphy's being telling porkies about zero hour contracts.
As the article says:
Normally you have to wait until after an election for this stuff.
But Scottish Labour’s promises are collapsing one by one with 10 days still to go.
I wish we could have the election tomorrow, and put SLab out of our misery.

Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
Ed Miliband does not believe in marriage, and his party ‘hates’ the institution, Iain Duncan Smith declared yesterday.
The Tory frontbencher also appeared to question Mr Miliband’s belief in marriage by pointing out the Labour leader tied the knot ‘quite late in the day’.
Labour reacted with fury, accusing the Tories of ‘panic’ and saying that the comments were ‘beneath’ the Conservative Party.
The Work and Pensions Secretary, who has campaigned for more Government support for marriage, made the comments in an interview in the Sunday Telegraph.
He told the newspaper he was determined to reclaim the Tories’ status of the party of ‘real family values’.
He said of Labour: ‘They hate marriage. It is quite peculiar. Just look at Miliband and co – they just don’t believe in it as an institution.’
Pressed on what exactly he was saying about Mr Miliband, he said: ‘Well, you know, that he got married quite late in the day.’ The Labour leader married Justine Thornton, his girlfriend of nine years and the mother of his two sons, in 2011, the year after he became Labour leader.
At the time he was the first leader of a major political party to live with his family out of wedlock.
esterday Mr Duncan Smith pointed to Tory plans for 30 hours of free childcare and the recently introduced tax allowance for married couples as evidence of the Tories backing ‘real family values’.
A Labour source last night said the comments were ‘a sign of desperation’.

And that is exactly why the Tories are losing - smears appear to be all they have to offer. Most people will just shrug and say, So what? anyway.
PS - Ruth Davidson, the Tory leader in Scotland, is quite openly gay and living with her partner. And guess what, no-one gives a flying one about her private life.

Ms Davidson does, actually, Lily. I don't agree with her politics, but as a person, from what I know of her, she's head and shoulders above the rest of the Tories. The Slabs are, well, numpties....the word could have been invented to describe them.
Look at this imbecile:

Jim Murphy: I'll stand for First Minister, even if voters don't want me
10:33, 27 April 2015 By John Dingwall
DEFIANT Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy has claimed he will bid for the post of First Minister even if he loses in the upcoming general election.
JIM Murphy has claimed he will stand for First Minister in the next Scottish Parliament even if voters don't want him.
He says he will bid for the post even if he loses in the upcoming general election .
The defiant Scottish Labour leader’s party is facing the prospect of a near wipe out for his party in the May 7 elections.
He looks likely to suffer a defeat in East Renfrewshire to the SNP only five months after being elected the Scottish Labour leader.
Murphy, who was the Secretary of State for Scotland between 2008 and 2010, was ahead in the polls in February, but the SNP have turned that into a ten-point advantage of their own in the last two months.
The SNP won less than 10 per cent of the vote in 2010 while Labour picked up 51 per cent, but Kirsten Oswald could cause a massive upset by ousting Murphy.
.
But recent polls show voters are turning their backs on Labour in their droves.
Astonishingly, Murphy – who is also involved in a feud with the Unite union – claims he will continue as Scottish Leader and even contest the First Minister post even if the electorate don’t want him......more delusion and backstabbing at link.
He seems to have forgotten, he's a Westminster MP, not a Holyrood MP. He doesn't even have a seat in Holyrood, and on current showings, he is unlikely to get one next year. And he can't be First Minister unless SLab holds a majority of seats, and the rest of the SLabs support him - which as SLab is about to be wiped out, is highly unlikely.
And I've just realised something - we have to have ANOTHER election before the US election in 2016.

Oh dear...this is, apparently, in the English Sun, but not the cuddly Scottish Sun:
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/load-up-jocks-drop-edinburgh-5591890
"Load up all the Jocks and drop them off in Edinburgh" Kelvin MacKenzie's venomous tirade against Scots in England
14:03, 27 April 2015 By Keith McLeod
THE former editor of the Sun newspaper also said that as soon as Scots were 'off the payroll, the better
VILE Kelvin MacKenzie sparked outrage on Monday after he said Scots living in England should be shipped back to Edinburgh as "McBoat people".
In a rant in the Sun newspaper, MacKenzie used the humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean to take yet another pop at Scotland, or “Jockestan”.
MacKenzie, the Tory paper's former editor, said: “Get those Libyan people smugglers to bring their boats to the Thames and we will load up all the Jocks and drop them off in Edinburgh.”
He said folk down south should send for boats for Scots if the UK breaks up because England votes to leave the EU and Scotland votes to stay in but, true to form for the two-faced paper, MacKenzie's rant is conspicuous by its absence from the Scottish edition of the paper.
Sneering once more at Scottish values, MacKenzie said: “We’re funding them as we do their free prescriptions, free university places, free etc.
“The sooner they are off the payroll the better. If the UK votes to leave the EU (and I hope they do) the Scots say they will stay in.
“On that basis we should then repatriate all the Scots making good money down here."
MacKenzie was editor of the Sun for 13 years from 1981 when the paper worshipped the hated Tory government of Margaret Thatcher.
He has previously used his Sun column to brand Scots as ‘Tartan Tosspots
Jolly good! Now most of Scotland has seen it, that's yet more votes (if there are still any spare floating around) for the SNP.

He's a leftover from Blair, and is involved with no less than the Henry Jackson society. From two years ago:

Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
From Wikipedia. LL
Attacks on Scotland
MacKenzie made a series of attacks on the people of Scotland in 2007, although he is partly of Scottish descent – his grandfather was from Stirling. In addition, his three names are all Scottish in origin. Kelvin is the name of one of the rivers that runs through Glasgow, Calder is the name of a river in the Highlands and the surname MacKenzie derives from the Scottish Gaelic "Mac Coinnich" meaning son of Coinneach, a Highland clan.
In July 2006, MacKenzie wrote a column for the Sun newspaper referring to Scots as 'Tartan Tosspots' and apparently rejoicing in the fact that Scotland has a lower life expectancy than the rest of the United Kingdom. MacKenzie's column provoked a storm of protest, and was heavily condemned by numerous commentators including Scottish MPs and MSPs.
