We are now down to five days to go, Lily - but I shudder to think what is going to happen between now and Thursday morning.
Cameron must be ROFL-ing after Milliband blew his own feet off so spectacularly.

I can't even begin to image what the Tories think they are doing. Apart from the poster, they look more like some sort of bizarre Nicola Sturgeon fan club.

That's a pretty good roundup and overview of the ongoing insanity in Scotland, mainly being caused by the Labour Party.

Just had a message from my younger lad, he's arrived in Orkney, flew into Glasgow Thursday, left by train via Inverness Saturday. Taxi Thurso to Scrabster, then ferry to Stromness. he was collected from there by the farm manager and driven to the house. He's up to there to vote. LL

That's going to be one to watch, LL. I would love to see Carmichael booted out for his role in Frenchgate alone, but I know it is an unusual constituency.

Orkney and Shetland have been Liberal, then LibDem, since the 1950s, or maybe even earlier. I know what my son is going to vote, but that is privileged info! Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
http://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/scottish-politics/snp-surge-continues-in-latest-poll.124982726
A YouGov survey of 1,162 voters in Scotland puts the SNP up one percent on 49 per cent and Labour down one percent on 26 per cent. The Conservatives are on 15 per cent with the Lib Dems on 7 per cent. Ukip are on 2 per cent and the Greens on 1 cent.
If this were repeated in every constituency, it would mean the nationalists winning 54 out 59 seats (+48 from 2010), Labour holding just four (-37), Lib Dems 1 (-10) and the Tories losing their only MP, Scotland Office minister David Mundell.
I suspect Orkney and Shetland is the one seat the LibDems might hold, LL.
I still can't believe the predicted landslide for the SNP, but every single poll cannot possibly be wrong, can it? Support has been at the 50% level, plus or minus a few points, in every poll for weeks now.
If all the polls have got this badly wrong, they may as well go out of business, frankly.

I should think it's rather bracing in the Orkneys today, LL, there is an even worse gale, complete with torrential rain, blowing than usual.

Par for the course, m'dear! We Orcadians are a very hardy bunch thanks to our Nordic heritage. I actually don't notice the cold, in fact I prefer it!! Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
When I first read this story in the Observer last night, I decided it was so stupid, it had to be some kind of wind-up. It isn't, unfortunately.
Mr Miliband ordered the huge stone monument to be created, despite polls showing it is not certain he will be Prime Minister after Thursday's election

It’s the final straight before the big vote, and Ed Miliband is channelling Spinal Tap and has turned the dial up to 11. He’s even got something to offer literalists who struggle with the concept of metaphor. Hell yeah it’s set in stone. He’s promised that if he’s elected he’ll commission a big structure with Labour’s manifesto promises carved into stone, which he’ll erect in the rose gardens at the back of 10 Downing Street. Ed’s wee spinning munchkins will dance around it while crooning his greatest hit – It’s my party and I’ll lie if I want to. It’s going to be a permanent symbol of Ed’s commitment to cheap publicity stunts which achieve precisely nothing. So pretty much like the last Labour government then.
I would like to congratulate Milliband on throwing the election away. All he had to do was NOT be Call Me Dave, and generally act like a grown up.
Instead, he is making a complete t*t of himself, and proving that the people that said he wasn't fit to be PM were correct.

Maybe you will one day visit the Orkneys, lily. If so, make it summertime and even thing bring warm underwear, raincoat and hat, wellington boots and brolly - though they are not recommended in a high wind, and believe me, it's very windy, no trees!!!! Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
I only watched part of the debate, I didn't want another headache from Murphy SHOUTING. But from what I did see, all he kept on, and on, and on, about was the non-existent ' second referendum'.
Personally, I should the last thing ANYONE in Scotland wants right this minute is another referendum.
Oh, and he also told some bizarre tale about how, when he was growing up, his great granny lived in the same house. What that has to do with the price of fish, I have NO idea.
And he kept getting words muddled up, hence the 'fundilymundily'.

OMG, I have just seen Murphy parading through Glasgow with Eddie Izzard. Izzard was wearing lipstick - and not in an ironic, humourous manner, either.

Eddie used to wear lipstick often in public. He's a cross-dresser, but doesn't often do it nowadays. LLbb1 wrote:OMG, I have just seen Murphy parading through Glasgow with Eddie Izzard. Izzard was wearing lipstick - and not in an ironic, humourous manner, either.
