He most certainly didn't play it against the McCanns, choosing instead to spectacularly be defeated yet again.

I don't know, Lily. I just keep seeing this expression, "Drinking The Cool Aid" so I thought it was some sort of suicide pact.

It started out like that, because that is what the Jonestown cultists drank, Sabot.

It now means any group of people that are so deluded, often by a personality cult, that they will believe absolutely anything the object of their devotion declares. It doesn't matter how far removed from reality the delusion is, the cultists will eagerly embrace it.

He would also know that, under his adored Amaral, the police didn't bother to collect the cigarette ends left lying around the area, because there were 'too many'.
