Beheading And Blast Reported At French Factory
Attackers reportedly carrying Islamist flags are said to have rammed a car into the building, setting off an explosion.
A man has been decapitated by attackers brandishing Islamist flags at a French factory near Grenoble, according to officials.
The severed head had Arabic writing scrawled across it and was found on a fence next to two jihadi banners, a French official said.
Several other people are reported to have been hurt in explosions at the factory.
It is understood the explosions were triggered when two attackers deliberately crashed a car into gas canisters, said a police source.
Reports said a 30-year-old man had been arrested - understood to have been known to foreign intelligence services.
Le Parisien newspaper reported shots had been fired and one Islamist had been killed at the premises in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier in southeastern France.
One witness called Caroline, from a neighbouring factory, said: "I heard a really loud noise. Fire engines arrived with the police.
"We thought it was a motorway accident."
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said security was being tightened at "sensitive sites" in response to the attack.
Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said he would go "immediately" to the scene.
David Cameron has spoken to French President Francois Hollande at the EU summit in Brussels to express his sympathies.
Downing Street described the attack as an "appalling incident".
Mr Hollande was returning to France from the EU summit in light of the attack.
"The president saw the first images of the attack on the 24-news channels with German Chancellor Angela Merkel beside him, who was visibly shocked," an official added.
The two leaders had just ended a short meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
Employees at the factory - Air Products - are said to be "very shocked".
Henry Samuel, a correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, told Sky News: "The person arrested was allegedly carrying a flag of the Islamic State and he said he was a member of the IS.
"There are several people wounded."
Benedicte Paviot, a French commentator, said: "It seems we may be dealing with a terrorist attack, that is not at all confirmed yet by the French authorities."
The attack came nearly six months after the Islamist attacks in and around Paris that killed 17 people in January.
Those attacks started with a shooting at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.
Sky's foreign affairs editor Sam Kiley said: "There has been a concerted effort by Islamic State to reach out to their followers in France and exhortations to conduct this sort of attack.
"We saw with the Charlie Hebdo attack these were also self-starter individuals who had had training from al Qaeda in Yemen.
"One of the three said he was there on behalf of Islamic State, the other two claimed membership of al Qaeda.
"In a sense it doesn't matter. What matters is that people are inspired to carry out terrorist attacks."

British tourist David Schofield told Sky News that he was by the pool when he heard "quite a large explosion" and guests started to run back towards the hotel.
"We heard people saying there were guns on the beach. People were shooting on the beach," he said.
"People are running around the hotel. No-one has really been told what to do."
Another, John Yeoman, has barricaded himself inside his hotel room using a bed and chair.
At least one gunman has been killed, according to security sources cited by the Reuters news agency.
Casualties have been reported.
Another holidaymaker, Susan Ricketts, said: "It sounded like a machine gun going off.
"There are people crying and going hysterical. We just came up to our room.
"They're saying it's going on in the hotel next to us. It's just a stretch of hotels along here. There's nothing else."
Meanwhile deadly explosions have hit a Shiite mosque in Kuwait's capital after Friday prayers.

Tunisian sources are saying that most of the dead holidaymakers are British and German, though this hasn't been confirmed yet.

The number of British victims is expected to rise as officials have warned that a majority of victims were from the UK.

While interviewing Iraqi refugees in a tent city in Baghdad, journalist Yaroslav Trofimov discovered that a growing number of residents believe ISIS is receiving direct support from the American government.
“We all know that America is providing ISIS with weapons and food, and that it is because of American backing that they have become so strong,” said Abbas Hashem, a 50-year-old who recently fled Ramadi.
Others, such as prominent lawmaker Alia Nusseif, made equally striking comments, accusing the US of using ISIS as a proxy army to split up the country.

Declassified Pentagon documents recently obtained by political watchdog Judicial Watch revealed that the US has deliberately supported al-Qaeda and other radical groups in an attempt to destabilize Syria.
As noted by Insurge Intelligence writer Nafeez Ahmed, the US went forward with the policy despite admittedly knowing it would lead to the rise of ISIS and the fall of Iraq.
“According to the newly declassified US document, the Pentagon foresaw the likely rise of the ‘Islamic State’ as a direct consequence of this strategy, and warned that it could destabilize Iraq,” Ahmed wrote. “Despite anticipating that Western, Gulf state and Turkish support for the ‘Syrian opposition’ — which included al-Qaeda in Iraq — could lead to the emergence of an ‘Islamic State’ in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the document provides no indication of any decision to reverse the policy of support to the Syrian rebels.”
Since the secret 2012 report was written, the Obama administration has continued its support of so-called “rebel” groups despite their admitted ties with ISIS.
Just last September, a commander with the Free Syrian Army (FSA), a group deemed “moderate” by the President, admitted to cooperating with multiple terrorist groups including ISIS.
“We are collaborating with the Islamic State and the Nusra Front by attacking the Syrian Army’s gatherings in… Qalamoun,” Bassel Idriss, an FSA commander, told the Daily Star.
In July of 2014, “several factions within the FSA” openly gave their US-supplied weapons to ISIS shortly after pledging allegiance to the group.
An ISIS fighter speaking with Al-Jazeera the year prior confirmed that the FSA would regularly donate or sell their weapons after reciving shipments from the US, a well-known issue ignored by the Obama administration and supporters of the Syrian war.

Just last September, a commander with the Free Syrian Army (FSA), a group deemed “moderate” by the President, admitted to cooperating with multiple terrorist groups including ISIS.
“We are collaborating with the Islamic State and the Nusra Front by attacking the Syrian Army’s gatherings in… Qalamoun,” Bassel Idriss, an FSA commander, told the Daily Star.
In July of 2014, “several factions within the FSA” openly gave their US-supplied weapons to ISIS shortly after pledging allegiance to the group.
An ISIS fighter speaking with Al-Jazeera the year prior confirmed that the FSA would regularly donate or sell their weapons after reciving shipments from the US, a well-known issue ignored by the Obama administration and supporters of the Syrian war.

The first British victim of the Tunisia terror attacks has been identified as Carly Lovett, according to Sky sources.
The 24-year-old recently became engaged, according to her Facebook page, and worked as a beauty blogger.
Miss Lovett, was with her fiancee when she was killed, and they were due to return home today, it was reported.
Friends and fellow bloggers paid emotional tributes to the former University of Lincoln student on social media.
The university's School of Film and Media tweeted: "Saddened to hear news reports of Carly Lovett in Tunisia - Graduate of our University 2013."
