Re: Islamic terrorists attacks in France, Tunisia
The head of the BBC sparked fury today after rejecting a demand by MPs to stop using the name Islamic State to refer to the terror group - because it would 'give the impression of support' for its opponents.
Tony Hall, the corporation's director general, rejected the call from a cross-party group of 120 MPs to use the name 'Daesh' instead, saying it would 'bias their coverage'.
The decision was widely criticised in Parliament today. Commons leader Chris Grayling said it was like being 'impartial' to Nazi Germany during the Second World War.
Tory MP Rehman Chisti, who started the petition to stop using 'Islamic State', said the BBC's response was 'not worth the paper it's written on'.
Daesh is a commonly used Arabic abbreviation for ISIS which the terrorists consider to be offensive because it sounds similar to the word 'Dahes' meaning 'one who sows discord'.
Mr Chishti, the Tory MP for Gillingham and Rainham, said Muslims are offended by the use of the word 'Islamic', as they do not consider the bloodthirsty group representative of their faith.
Mr Chishti added that the name also served to legitimise the fanatics by including the word 'state'.
The petition was widely backed in the House of Commons, with signatories including London Mayor Boris Johnson, and former SNP leader Alex Salmond.
But in a response to the MP, Lord Hall said that the word Daesh risked giving the 'impression of support' for the group's opponents and 'would not preserve the BBC's impartiality'.

Daesh is good; it's what Iran calls them - along with 'murdering Takfiri scum', etc

Saudi Arabia Arrests 431 IS Suspects
The interior ministry says mosques, security forces and a diplomatic mission have been targeted for suicide missions
Saudi Arabia says it has arrested 431 suspected Islamic State terrorists and thwarted six suicide attacks by militants.
The country's interior ministry said mosques, members of the security forces and a diplomatic mission were all being targeted by the group.
"The number arrested to date is 431, most of them citizens, in addition to participants from other nationalities... six successive suicide operations which targeted mosques in the Eastern province on every Friday timed with assassinations of security men were thwarted," the statement posted by the official news agency SPA said.
The statement added: "Terrorist plots to target a diplomatic mission, security and government facilities in Sharurah province and the assassination of security men were thwarted."

That'll be 431 ISIS supporters about to find themselves on the receiving end of some headchopping, then.

Explosion In Turkish Border Town Kills 28
Officials investigate the possibility the blast was the work of an Islamist militant suicide bomber.
Twenty-eight people have been killed and 100 wounded in an explosion in a Turkish town near the border with Syria.
Reports have suggested the blast outside a cultural centre in Suruc, which lies 10km from the Syrian border town of Kobane, could have been the work of Islamist militants.
Video shown on local television of the moments before the explosion showed a large group of people standing behind a Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) banner before it is ripped apart by the huge blast.
Pervin Buldan, a lawyer from the pro-Kurdish HDP opposition party, said Turkish and Kurdish youths had gathered at the centre ahead of a planned trip to Kobane to take part in relief work.
Kobane had recently been secured by Syrian Kurdish fighters last month following an unsuccessful attack by militants from Islamic State (IS) who surrounded the town but were repelled by Kurdish forces and Free Syrian Army rebels.
Ms Buldan added that local officials were investigating the possibility a suicide bomber was responsible for the blast.
Graphic video posted on Facebook, which Sky News has been unable to verify, appears to show the immediate aftermath of the explosion, with bodies lying on the ground as screams can be heard.
Pictures posted on Twitter after the blast showed bodies covered with newspapers.
"I saw more than 20 bodies. I think the number of wounded is more than 50. They are still being put into ambulances," one witness said.
"It was a huge explosion, we all shook."
Local politician Adham Basho said: "Ambulances and private cars are picking up the wounded. Many were killed - 20 or 30. I am going to the hospital to help out."
A Turkish official said Islamic State appeared to have been responsible and that the attack was a "retaliation for the Turkish government's efforts to fight terrorism".
The explosion comes weeks after Turkey supplied extra troops and resources along part of its border with Syria, over fears of an increase in fighting between Kurdish forces, rebel groups, Syrian government troops and IS.
KSA and now Turkey? Looks like ISIS, Daesh or whatever they're called are biting the hands that have been feeding them.

Man Charged With US Military Terrorist Plot
A Luton man is charged with planning an attack on US military personnel - possibly at the RAF Lakenheath base in Suffolk.
A man has been charged with planning a terrorist attack on American military personnel in Britain.
Junead Ahmed Khan, 24, is suspected of intending to commit acts of terrorism, as well as plotting to travel to Syria alongside his uncle, 22-year-old Shazib Ahmed Khan, to join the group that calls itself Islamic State.
It is believed the target of the alleged terrorist plot may have been RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, which hosts more than 5,000 US Air Force personnel, as well as 2,000 British and American civilian staff.
The attack would allegedly have involved a knife and a car.
RAF Lakenheath is home to the US 48th Fighter Wing, whose F-15 Eagle tactical fighters took part in operations in Libya in 2011.
The two men were remanded in custody when they appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court.
They are due to appear at the Central Criminal Courts in London on 10 August.

Re: Islamic terrorists attacks in France, Tunisia
Yes - remember a few weeks ago, some big air display was cancelled at Lakenheath, at the last moment, because of unspecified threats?
I freely admit, at the time, I thought it was panicky - if you're not safe there, where are you? But I guess there were concrete reasons, after all.

ANTAKYA, Turkey — A Pentagon program to train moderate Syrian insurgents to fight the Islamic State has been vexed by problems of recruitment, screening, dismissals and desertions that have left only a tiny band of fighters ready to do battle.
Those fighters — 54 in all — suffered perhaps their most embarrassing setback yet on Thursday. One of their leaders, a Syrian Army defector who recruited them, was abducted in Syria near the Turkish border, along with his deputy who commands the trainees. They were seized not by the Islamic State but by its rival the Nusra Front, an affiliate of Al Qaeda that is another Islamist extremist byproduct of the four-year-old Syrian civil war.
After a year of trying, the Pentagon still struggles to find recruits to fight the Islamic State without also battling the forces of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, their original foe. The willing few face vetting meant to weed out extremists, so stringent that only dozens have been approved, and they are bit players in the rebellion. The program has not engaged with the biggest, most powerful groups, Islamist factions that are better funded, better equipped and more motivated......more at link.
Oh, they will be perfectly safe with Al-Nusrah - look how well they treat US senators!

According to Ynet, Russian fighter pilots are expected to begin arriving in Syria in the coming days, and will fly their Russian air force fighter jets and attack helicopters against ISIS and rebel-aligned targets within the failing state.
And just like the US and Turkish air forces are supposedly in the region to "eradicate the ISIS threat", there can't be any possible complaints that Russia has also decided to take its fight to the jihadists - even if it is doing so from the territory of what the real goal of US and Turkish intervention is - Syria. After all, it is a free for all against ISIS, right?
Quite; there is NO doubt about which side Russia is on - the side of civilization, not the side of Soros and co.
ISIS should have been wiped from the map long ago - good God, the RAF memorial flight could have destroyed those long convoys across deserts, or those baying mobs watching gays be murdered.

Two people were killed and two others, including a two-year-old toddler, were wounded in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem's Old City on Saturday evening. Israeli police have fatally shot the attacker.
The attack took place near the landmark Lions' Gate. Two of the wounded are reportedly in critical condition, while one is in serious condition, the Jerusalem Post reports.
One of the victims, the father, has died of his wounds, according to a spokesman for Jerusalem's Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Another victim, the mother, is in a critical condition, while the condition of the third person is serious. The two-year-old child was slightly injured and is currently being treated.
The mother, whose condition was described as “critical,” has died of her wounds in hospital, raising the death toll to two, the Jerusalem Post reports.
“The Arab suspect repeatedly stabbed the three Israelis while they were walking near Lion’s Gate,” Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said, according to the Jerusalem Post.
“Border Police and Police responded immediately and shot the terrorist, neutralizing him. Police have cordoned off the area and are searching for a possible accomplice.”
All the victims are members of the same ultra-Orthodox family, who were walking towards the Western Wall when they were attacked, Channel 2 reports.
Paramedics rushed to the site to provide medical assistance

Yemen hospital hit by Saudi-led air strike: Medecins Sans Frontieres
DUBAI
A Yemeni hospital run by medical aid group Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) was bombed in a Saudi-led air strike, wrecking the facility and wounding several people, the hospital director said on Tuesday.
A Saudi-led Arab coalition intervened in Yemen's civil war in March to try to restore its government after its toppling by Houthi forces but the civilian death toll has escalated since then, alarming the United Nations and human rights groups.
"The MSF facility in Saada, (north) Yemen was hit by several air strikes last night with patients and staff inside the facility," Medecins sans Frontieres said in a tweet.
Yemen's state news agency Saba, run by the Iran-allied Houthis whom the Arab coalition is fighting, quoted the Heedan hospital director as saying several people were injured in the attack, which occurred in Houthi-controlled north Yemen.
"The air raids resulted in the destruction of the entire hospital with all that was inside - devices and medical supplies - and the moderate wounding of several people," Ali Mughli said.
Saba said other air strikes hit a nearby girls school and damaged several civilian homes.
It was not immediately possible to confirm that report, and a coalition spokesman was not immediately available for comment....more at link.
