Richard M. Nixon
@dick_nixon
This is Bush's ad in Iowa. No, honestly. It is.
And since when has that ever been a bar to high office?
PS - I don't think that's the real Tricky Dicky.....

No it is not the real Nixon.
Jeb may well feel like that though..... he is still at the bottom.

I know, Bonny. Ironically, his mother Barbara considers Jeb to be the one with the brains.

Re: US politics and election
An Islamic cleric who defends domestic violence is among a string of extremist speakers touring British universities unchallenged, the Mail Investigations Unit can reveal.
Egyptian cleric Fadel Soliman spoke at five such events last year, using them to refer Muslim students to an online lecture series in which he speaks in favour of hitting women and outlines the Islamic case for sex slavery and polygamy.
Mr Soliman told students at Sheffield University that watching his lectures could be ‘a turning point’ in their lives.
In his extraordinary videos, he advises physical punishment for wives who have displeased their husbands, saying ‘the hitting must be done with a small stick’.

How much do you bet the same people signed that stupid petition demanding Trump be banned because he's a bit fussy about who gets into the US?

He seems to be getting increasing support from the blue-collar unions now, too?

He is getting all kinds of support from all kinds of places. It seems to be taking the pundits by surprise.

More good news for Trump.

Oh, it's someone who is American, to all appearances, not a rapefugee:

Not one of the horde currently besieging Europe looks anything like that - nice bit of trickery from Obungle.

I love the trickery in using a genuine, well-qualified person, who entered the US legally, and not one of the scruffy shower that are marching over Europe in their hundreds of thousands. And not a walking black binbag, either.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/01/11/fbis-clinton-probe-expands-to-public-corruption-track.html?intcmp=hpbt1
Inside the FBI, pressure is growing to pursue the case.
One intelligence source told Fox News that FBI agents would be “screaming” if a prosecution is not pursued because “many previous public corruption cases have been made and successfully prosecuted with much less evidence than what is emerging in this investigation.”
I would love to see Hillary in handcuffs and an orange pantsuit.

That's rather funny. I really cannot imagine what possessed Hillary to start that 'war on women' nonsense with Trump - but the fallout is most entertaining. I suspect assorted nasty things that have been swept under the carpet for a decade or so are going to be dragged into daylight before November...
I don't find ANYTHING about Sanders interesting, he's like Corbyn without the beard. Is he a sort of novelty in the US, where people don't usually boast about being socialists? As opposed to our lot, who've been chuntering on about it since Queen Victoria was on the throne?

Re: US politics and election
New Labour peer Dave Watts was talking about the Corbynistas, but it also sums up Sanders....
My advice to my own party leadership is that they should take less notice of the London-centric hard left political class who sit around in their £1 million mansions eating their croissants at breakfast and seeking to lay the foundations for a socialist revolution
PS - did you know that croissants are raycist and islamophobic?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croissant
Fanciful stories of how the Kipferl — and so, ultimately, the croissant — was created are widespread and persistent culinary legends, going back to the 19th century.[12] However, there are no contemporary sources for any of these stories, nor does an aristocratic writer, writing in 1799, mention the Kipferl in a long and extensive list of breakfast foods.[13]
The legends include tales that it was invented in Europe to celebrate the defeat of the Umayyad forces at the Battle of Tours by the Franks in 732, with the shape representing the Islamic crescent;[14] that it was invented in Buda; or, according to other sources in Vienna, in 1683 to celebrate the defeat of the Ottomans by Christian forces in the siege of the city, as a reference to the crescents on the Ottoman flags, when bakers staying up all night heard the tunneling operation and gave the alarm.[12] This has led to croissants being banned by some Islamic fundamentalists.[15]

http://www.breitbart.com/video/2016/01/12/obama-there-are-no-existential-threats-to-the-united-states/
Tuesday on NBC’s “Today,” in the lead up to his final state of the union address, President Barack Obama said the United States remains “the strongest nation on earth” and declared “there are no existential threats facing us.”
Run for the hills, Americans! Obama saying everything is safe and secure means something ghastly is about to happen....

Alex Salmond challenges Donald Trump to radio debate
The mind boggles.....
Happier times: Alex Salmond and Donald Trump pose for pictures at Tartan Week in New York in 2006. Picture: Reuters
Always so sad when good friends fall out.
Amused onlookers feel Our Eck is making a bit of an arse of himself over this - not least because one's as bad as the other, and Eck is trying to pretend that this is about politics.

Or if you prefer.....
http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/14205492.Bookies_back_Alex_Salmond_to_knock_out_Donald_Trump_in_the_boxing_ring/
As the war of words escalated between the heavyweight politicians the Ladbrokes decided to make Salmond the 1/2 favourite to topple Trump in the fun bet.
Those who think Trump would settle the score by beating Salmond can take 6/4 while the bookies are offering 2/1 for the Republican front-runner to visit the United Kingdom this year.
Trump is now the clear 4/1 second favourite to win the Presidential election, ahead of Hillary Clinton at 5/6.
A Ladbrokes spokesman quipped: "You can take the bet but you get your money back if the fight doesn't happen. They are for illustrative purposes for now."
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "Along with most of the country we'd pay good money to see these two political heavyweights step into the ring. If the fight did go ahead, Salmond would be a strong favourite to end the argument with Trump once and for all."
Hmm, not sure - I don't think The Donald has eaten quite so many pehs as Wee Eck......
