Trump went too far today and I am not happy with him.  This was over his attack on the judge presiding over (or about to) his University suits.  It is making people in his party furious.

Stated succinctly, Donald Trump said U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is presiding over a class-action suit against Trump University, is sticking it to him. And the judge's bias is likely rooted in the fact that he is of Mexican descent.

Can there be any defense of a statement so horrific?

Just this. First, Trump has a perfect right to be angry about the judge's rulings and to question his motives. Second, there are grounds for believing Trump is right.

On May 27, Curiel, at the request of The Washington Post, made public plaintiff accusations against Trump University -- that the whole thing was a scam. The Post, which Bob Woodward tells us has 20 reporters digging for dirt in Trump's past, had a field day.

And who is Curiel?

An appointee of President Obama, he has for years been associated with the La Raza Lawyers Association of San Diego, which supports pro-illegal immigrant organizations.

A judge involved with La Raza presiding over a case involving Trump? He should recuse himself, IMO. That's the point Trump should have been making, instead of sounding as if being of Mexican heritage alone was wrong.

You know, there's something I just don't understand about La Raza.

Gonzalo Curiel is a European Hispanic name, not an Aztec name.

Trump could have his attorney go for a mistrial about certain facets of the case.  I just wish he would shut up and stop flapping his gums for a while.

La Raza was not the nicest of organizations to belong to a few years ago.  Trump should merely have stated a sentence or two that he was not happy with that Judge and then dropped it.  IMO.

Can you imagine the uproar if Trump announced that all Hispanics should be back to Spain? It's a ludicrous argument, IMO, not least because they ARE of European descent.

I don't quite know how to put this delicately.   Many people from down south have not necessarily had the best of educations and their knowledge may be lacking.  They may not know any better than what other people are telling them?

It can be quite a problem at times.
