Some good news for a brief time. Much jubilation here, the last time a Hungarian film won this was 'Mephisto' in 1982. Well done, one and all!! LL

Well done, LL! I am sure it was a vast improvement on films about mops, or Leonardo getting eaten by a bear, etc.

I wasn't greatly intererested, but then, I freely admit to generally being a Philistine where entertainment is concerned.

It's grim, about Auschwitz and a sonderkommando - Jews responsible for herding their fellow religionists into the gas chambers and later burning/burying the bodies, not for the faint-hearted. Interesting that the last time Hungary won that film was also set in the Nazi era. LL

I assume so, but it will need subtitles/dubbing first. If I see anything about it I will post it in here. LL

Thanks, LL. Much more interesting than a movie about a woman inventing a new mop. The mind boggles - that's the sort of movie I'd pay NOT to see.

Thanks, LL. It looks, not good, the subject is too dark for that, but well worth watching, and a worthy winner.

The story of the sonderkommando is darkness itself, a member lived for only a short time before he ended up in the gas chambers. LL
