Now, it may be silly under these particular circumstances, but it has established a legal point in England and Wales.

It also established that 'the public interest' does NOT mean nosey parkers have any right to know about the private lives of people in the media spotlight - looking at you, Bennett.

One hopes that the Hounders, haters and pitchforkers take heed of the implications for their hate'n'smear vendetta against the McCanns and others.

Don't think the judges would be any too impressed by disgraced ex-cops accusing the innocent parents of a missing child of committing heinous crimes.

That is far, far more serious than celebrity tittle-tattle.
