Browned toast and potatoes are 'potential cancer risk', say food scientists.
Bread, chips and potatoes should be cooked to a golden yellow colour, rather than brown, to reduce our intake of a chemical which could cause cancer, government food scientists are warning.

Acrylamide is produced when starchy foods are roasted, fried or grilled for too long at high temperatures.

If we took notice of all the 'bad' things that can give us cancer we would all be like sticks!! I ain't giving up me coffee - or the occasional toast, small pile of chips .... LL

I just have this vision of anyone daft enough to pay attention to this fearmongering hanging over their toaster, in terror in case their toast goes a tiny shade too brown.....

Don't forget the chart showing the correct colors which are okay to eat. Also, the fines coming to them.....
