Vincent Tabak has been found guilty of the murder of Joanna Yeates at Bristol Crown Court.
The jury of six men and six women returned a majority verdict after two days of deliberation.

Tabak, 33, sat down after the verdict was announced to the court and put his head in his hands.

It can now be revealed that police believe Tabak, 33, throttled Miss Yeates after watching violent videos of women being strangled during sex.

Detectives found the Dutch engineer also paid for sex with a prostitute in the US two weeks before killing the landscape architect.

Miss Yeates, 25, was last seen alive on the evening of December 17 as she returned from drinks with work colleagues.

She had told friends her boyfriend Greg Reardon was away visiting family and that she was "dreading" spending the weekend alone.

It is believed Tabak, who lived in the adjoining flat in a block in Clifton, Bristol, killed her minutes after she arrived home.

She was not reported missing until the Sunday when Mr Reardon returned and realised something was wrong.

Police launched a major search but her body was found by dog walkers on Christmas morning in a remote country lane around three miles away.

Tabak was arrested on January 20 when police matched his DNA to samples found on her body and clothing.

Wow. I would have sworn it was only Manslaughter. As if, "Only." But it did seem like a panic thing to me. And I did think that The Judge was vaguely directing The Jury towards Manslaughter, although we didn't know about the videos he had been watching.

I worry about the mentality of some of these people who have no idea of what can be recovered on their computers as they all busily delete away.

According to the Sky Breaking News banner, his DNA is being sent to Holland to see if it matches any found there after sex attacks.

Just read it. You can understand why it was not allowed before but also why the judge authorized the release now.

And I bet it made his day when he saw what was being said about her boyfriend, and then her landlord.

I bet it did, Bonny. However, it was the phone call to the police from Holland telling them that the landlord had moved his car that put him in the crosshairs.

Did you also read how a photo, from a porn site, on his computer closely resembled Jo Yeates? What a sick monster.

He contacted detectives after the arrest of Mr Jefferies, who was later released without charge, claiming the landlord had moved his car on the night Jo died.

Vile, vile creature; there was no doubt of his guilt, if he had been genuinely remorseful, he would have pled guilty and spared the Yeates family.

It was absolutely fair not to inform The Jury, Bonny. I just thought it was interesting that they convicted him of Murder anyway. My perception of the case was entirely wrong. But no one can now scream Injustice, or even Appeal, I would think.

It is obvious even to them now that he did Murder Joana. But you won't hear them apologising for that. They always have an excuse for the disgusting things they say. This is what is so mind boggling about them.

The problem with all of them is quite basic, actually - they seem totally unable to accept they could well have made a mistake AND admit it, not just to themselves, but to everybody. They are afraid of retaliation from those who have totally closed minds, they fear the kind of threats made by various bullies against them and their families, most of all they are moral cowards. We know of posters who have stepped back, evaluated what they have believed and come to the conclusion they were wrong. There's a lot of difference between saying you think there is something not quite right in what you see/read/hear and refusing to even consider a possible different scenario. It used to be pro/fence/anti, now it just seems to be pro/anti; I can only assume the fencers have gone one way or the other. To me it looks just like a playground, where one or more bullies terrorise less aggressive kids; no-one comes to the aid of the bullied, they just look away or join in so as not to become targets themselves. It is a sad state of affairs. LL

Murderer Vincent Tabak kept images of children being sexually abused on his laptop computer, it has emerged.
The killer was given a life sentence on Friday - with a minimum 20-year term - after a jury found him guilty of strangling 25-year-old landscape architect Joanna Yeates.

It was revealed after his conviction at Bristol Crown Court that the Dutch engineer was obsessed with images of women being strangled during sex and had a taste for violent pornography and prostitutes.

The jury had not been told about the parallels which the material found had with the way Miss Yeates died - including pornography that depicted blonde women being throttled during sex or bundled into car boots.


During the examination of Vincent Tabak's computer, other material was found. Once referred to the Crown Prosecution Service they will consider a number of criteria before charging someone with an offence. This includes whether it is in the public interest to do so.

And it has now come to light that 30 images of youngsters being sexually abused were among those found by police on the hard drives of computers used by 33-year-old Tabak.

An officer involved in the investigation from Avon and Somerset Police, who asked not to be named, told the Bristol Evening Post that officers wanted to clear up speculation surrounding these "other matters".

"Tabak had 30 images depicting child pornography on his laptop computer at home," he said.

"They were all category four images."

The officer added that Tabak's conviction for murder and life sentence meant it was unlikely the Crown Prosecution Service would take action.

There are five levels of seriousness for offences involving indecent photographs of children, which start with images depicting "erotic posing with no sexual activity".

Category four images depict penetrative sexual activity involving a child or children, or both children and adults.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Jones, who led the murder investigation, confirmed:"During the examination of Vincent Tabak's computer, other material was found.

"We have referred this matter to the Crown Prosecution Service for initial guidance.

"Once referred to the CPS they will consider a number of criteria before charging someone with an offence. This includes whether it is in the public interest to do so."

Miss Yeates' parents said after his conviction that they hoped Tabak endured a "living hell" and expressed their "regret" he could not be sentenced to death.
