This is the email she claims she received:

"Dear Pat,We have received a notice of defamation from Carter-Ruck Solicitors that says the content of Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann (UPDATED) B0055WYVCQ, contains defamatory statements regarding their clients, Gerry and Kat McCann. The McCanns have bullied Amazon into removing the book from sale

in there? Because I can't; the option was open to B$own to discuss the matter with Carter Ruck; instead of taking the grown-up option, she had a very public tanty.

I hope B$own is looking forward to meeting all the court costs - all those expert witnesses in the States who are lining up to tell the court just what an embarrassment to real profilers she is.

When I was checking something, I saw that, when the leaflet was first withdrawn, various people were saying, Wait till the US press hear about this!

And what happened? Nothing - because the US press know all about B$own.

That is a very good point, Tony. No self respecting Profiler would publish a work about two very unlikely suspects without The Facts. I thought Criminal Profiling was supposed to be about a Type of Person, not about two people who have never been charged with anything.

I agree, Lily. We spent a few days there and it was rather like going back in time. I loved the House of the Seven Gables, writer Nathaniel Hawthorne's home. His great-great-grandfather, John Hathorne, was one of the judges at the Salem Witch Trials. LL

I bought a copy of a video of the guided tour of the house narrated by Vincent Price. You really expect a Puritan lady to walk down the stairs! I have friends who used to live in New Hampshire so we were taken all over the place, the town where Hersheys have their headquarters and where the street lamps are shaped like Hershey Kisses, Mount Monadnock, the recreated 17th century village, name escapes me, Cathedral of the Pines, so may wonderful places to visit in New England. And Philadelphia, I really liked that place, there's an Edgar Allen Poe Museum in the house he once lived in. LL

Sounds like you really did have a good time, LL. I also like New England - have family and friends there too. Mind you, it can be brutal in January.

A favorite of mine is the Old Church and the State House in Boston.

So, when did that happen, then? B$own made that totally untrue statement back in August; isn't it about time she retracted it and apologised?

You know, Bonny, she is making herself sound so unhinged when she spouts sh*te like that.

'Long process to the courtroom' - yes, and no doubt made even longer by any attorney she has paid a retainer to advising her not to do anything so stupid, which will be seen, internationally, as vexatious at best, and spiteful at worst.

Not to mention finally wrecking her career when all those expert witnesses are called to testify about her.

I don't know how it is in other States, but in California in order for a law suit to progress, it usually has to be heard by a judge as to whether or not the person wanting to sue has grounds for a suit.

I'll pass; I have enough problems with the different legal systems in the UK, without 50 different ones in the States

1. Where have the McCanns even mentioned your name?

2. Why did you not try to resolve the issue as was suggested you did?

3. Why are you claiming your freedom of speech was curtailed when it is for sale, freely, in at least two other places?
