Third Night Of Car Arson Attacks In LA

Hollywood has experienced a third consecutive night of arson attacks on cars.

More than 30 vehicles were set alight on Thursday and Friday - with at least four more blazes started on Saturday as Los Angeles welcomed in the new year.
Some of the fires spread to nearby properties and damaged homes and apartments - but fortunately no one has been killed or injured in the incidents.
Damaged property included a Hollywood Hills home where singer Jim Morrison of The Doors once lived.
So far two people have been arrested, but the suspects were in custody at the time of the latest attacks
Investigators have said they know how the blazes are sparked as the pattern is always the same - small incendiary devices are left underneath cars parked on driveways.

Specialist investigators believe the crimes have all been committed by a serial arsonist

LA fire department Captain Jamie Moore said: "[The latest fires] do correlate with what we've been experiencing the last couple nights, and that's automobile fires in a carport or adjacent to a structure."
He added: "Our arson investigators are doing everything to canvas these fire scenes and take anything that looks suspicious away with them."
These are the worst arson attacks in LA's history and Hollywood residents have been left stunned by the seemingly pointless destruction.
"It's actually really upsetting because this is just a working class neighbourhood and some of these people don't have full coverage on their insurance, and they're just stuck," said local Damion Stephens.
Officials have offered a reward of $60,000 (£38,600) for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
