Do they really think he can defend his sick Fridge Theory when he's in the dock? At a time when the Yard are in Portugal on the trail of an alive Madeleine McCann?

They're also deluding themselves if they imagine the McCanns even have to attend. It's Amoral who is on trial.

Not that anyone should read too much into the Star, but it might be a good idea for the tick-tockers to calm down a bit for the sake of their health.

On the other hand, do we actually care that they are going to be shedding the traditional Tears Before Bedtime in a couple of weeks? No.

I wonder when this date was put forward. It surely wouldn't have come so soon after The Summer Recess if it was going to be a full blown Trial of several days. So I suspect that it is a quickie settlement.

Not that I mind. I want to see him in Court defending his vile theories. What a nasty fool of a man he is going to look, insisting that Madeleine is dead by the hands of her parents when Scotland Yard are crawling all over Portugal, with the assistance of The PJ, looking for a live Madeleine.

That's what I meant, Bonny, that it was settled several weeks ago, and only a short hearing is needed. I just couldn't quite form the idea into words at that moment, so thanks for that.

September the 9th is almost immediately after recommencement, so best got out of the way quickly.

I'm not sure I believe the date, why isn't it listed? There hasn't been anything in the Portuguese press as yet either.

Why would it need to be listed if it only has to be rubber-stamped by a judge?  

How keen are The Portuguese Press going to be to report a cave in by Gonc?

And then they'll go back to yet more rubbish about local TV stars getting bum implants - CdM makes the Star look intellectual.

The Gonc fan club should rid themselves of this notion that Amoral is popular in Portugal, because he isn't. He and his cronies are rather loathed, due to their inability to pay their taxes, the way they've disgraced the PJ, etc.

So they wouldn't even be taking up a Court Room.

Maybe a public announcement that he's agreed to pay a substantial sum in compensation to the McCanns? Though he will get to keep some of the frozen assets to pay his many bills?

And a public statement from his people giving the McCanns VINDICATION and PROTECTION, as was required by them?

I have never claimed any insider information NBY but, in my opinion, if there is a hearing scheduled for 9 Sept it is to formalise the settlement terms and release the funds held in escrow. However, if the rumour that the McCanns accepted Mr Amarals offer of compensation is erroneous then Mr Amaral will stand trial for libel.

I confess, it's baffling me that the tick-tockers are trying to convince themselves that their beloved Gonc is going to be anywhere except in the dock....

They should have known that only The Plaintiff can ask for an adjournment.
There is no way in which a Plaintiff offers a settlement to a Defendant. They just withdraw, which The McCanns obviously have not done.
