Because that's what happened. D'uh.     

There is a group of them who are never going to believe anything else. They have already got all bases covered with some whitewash or other. And they will all still be shrieking hatred at The McCanns long after the real perpetrator has been caught.

Their stupidity and blind bigotry is what's ruined their own nasty campaign, IMO. Who do they fondly imagine is going to pay any attention to a load of nasty nutters?

We don't read their sh*te for enlightenment, but for entertainment when there's no paint to watch drying. What effect do they imagine they have on the rest of the world?  

Most of the time I am just amused and confused, Bonny. But every now and again I get a glimpse of the hatred and the evil that motivates them. But it is the WHY that puzzles me the most.

Doesn't puzzle me, Sabot, they're just horrible people. There are always horrible people in society - this particular shower just happen to have internet access and an unwarranted sense of entitlement.

Their ancestors doubtless denounced their poor neighbours as witches and enjoyed nothing so much as a family day out at public executions.

They're just horrible, and I don't care why, they're past saving.

I do think it is probably genetic, Bonny. Physical attributes travel down through generations, so why not twisted brains. But what do they get out of it?

They get to imagine their stupidity and bigotry is somehow validated if they call themselves Truthseekers and Armchair Detectives, Sabot.

432 abductions and kidnappings

Alongside these crimes , robberies increased petrol stations , CTT , transport and pharmacies .

Last year 432 people were abducted , kidnapped or taken hostage . These crimes increased 3.1 percent compared to 2012 ( 419 cases ) , says the annual report of Homeland Security . The report also makes reference to the situation of the chains - at the end of 2013 there were 14,284 inmates , an increase of 677 compared to 2012. Lisbon, Porto and Setúbal are the districts with more equity : the capital leads with 90,740 , followed by Oporto Ga with 60 889 and Setúbal with 34 487 with crimes.

Those are astounding totals for a nation of only ten million or so.

Personally, I find it nasty and mean-spirited.

And the desire for some of the locals to get the whole thing swept under the carpet before it affects their tourist trade does NOTHING for their image.

Indeed, it only serves to fuel suspicions that they are hiding something nasty. Like holidaymakers' children being assaulted in their beds.

I feel it is time Luz turned round and sued the McCanns for slander.

Incidentally, why on earth would the media be gathering there 5-6 weeks before the anniversary of Madeleine's abduction?
