I think that goes for the rank and file cyber cannon fodder, LL. They're all convinced they are fantastic armchair defectives that are going to 'crack the case' - they all love going on about 'cracking'.

Those at the back of the Gonzo campaign are, IMO, somewhat more sinister. They've been at this for years, starting almost as soon as Madeleine went missing.

Fabricated tales from 'Vera', lies from Secret Sources, twisted propaganda, outright lying - you name it, Team Gonzo has done it. And they're still at it with their clunky photoshopping and dodgy Scrounge Funds.

Why they are doing it is another matter entirely - onlookers can only speculate.

How much clearer can it be that he's lost the libel case?

He is quibbling about how much he has to fork out of the sequestered funds now.

Re: So, Gonzo's filed an appeal?

According to that Donn churnalist:

Posted by portugalpress on July 20, 2015
Brits send Maddie cop’s appeal fund to €50,000

The wave of public support for former PJ investigator Gonçalo Amaral has hit a new record this week, with over €50,000 now amassed to help him fight his appeal over the €500,000-plus damages awarded against him in the long-running civil action taken out by the parents of Madeleine McCann.

But as supporters shared the news, calling it a victory for “people who put their heads above the parapet”, an internet campaign trying to prove “there is no appeal” and that Amaral is simply raising money under false pretences is trying to gather steam.

In a bid to establish the true picture, the Resident has been in touch with the offices of Isabel Duarte and Ricardo Correia, the lawyers acting for the McCanns.

Dr Correia told us: “You are right. Gonçalo Amaral made an appeal on 15th June, and we replied on 13th July”.

As to the length of time this appeal is likely to take, he was unsure.

“It is an appeal that goes up in the ranking of the courts”, he told us, adding it would take “at least a month”.

And as to why no lay person has been able to access these details via Portugal’s judicial website, CITIUS, he explained:

“You aren’t able to get details unless you have a password and a log-in”.

As a lawyer, you “don’t see any lawyer’s cases, just your own”, he added, which explains why anyone trying to research this case and where it stands will only ever find screenshots.

With the August judicial holiday almost upon us, the chances of Amaral’s appeal being heard before October look slim - but in the meantime, the online appeal to help him pay legal costs is ongoing.

Intriguingly, this appeal that has joined over 2,000 people - many of them giving small amounts every week - has been virtually ignored by mainstream media.

No one is sure why it is being ignored, but certainly the truth is that anyone who publicises it will then find themselves vilified online.

As a legal expert agreed, “it is a curious mark of this case that anyone who does not comply with the accepted storyline will find him or herself being insulted, harassed and generally abused. I can see a story there, actually”.

It is indeed a story. And as the expert warned: “You do realise that the minute you stop this rumour, they will find another one to bug you with, don’t you?”

And she needs to stop telling porkies:

this appeal that has joined over 2,000 people

No, it hasn't.

The same haters have donated to the Scrounge Fund multiple times - there are only actually about four or five hundred of them.

And hey, no churnalism is complete without a pretendy 'legal expert', is it? rofl

I have a feeling the 'legal expert' may be her fellow hounder Bennett, Lily.Wink

But seriously, isn't that 'report' so bad, it's funny? Donn is so obsequious and bigoted, she makes Fox News look neutral.

All looks to me like >> Keep calm and keep donating.

Yup. And still no sign of anything resembling accounts, not even a crumpled receipt for beer'n'shrimps, from either of the Scrounge Funds. Pcorneater

And an excellent question on Myths:

Er...why did Donnderhead have to call the McCann's lawyers? Why didn't she ring Amoral's lawyer?

Maybe, despite all her fawning and grovelling, Hounder Donn isn't one of Gonzo's inner circle? Who can forget her hysterical worship of the dirty ex-cop in this piece:

http://www.jornal123.com/en/Articles/2-1403/

You wouldn’t miss him in a crowd. Gonçalo Amaral, 52, is strikingly tall with a penchant for hats. He was wearing a long black coat, a black fedora and a bright red scarf when we met him on the terrace of Casa Inglesa in Portimão. He looked much more like an intellectual than a former police officer

Who knew Gonzo had an Intellectual Hat? And is Hounder Donn a midget or something, that she thinks Gonzo is 'strikingly tall'?

I share Myths concern as to why Hounder Donn didn't just go to her beloved Gonzo the Intellectual Hat for information, but went to the lawyers representing the McCanns instead.

Didn't she trust Gonzo to tell the truth, or something?

Excellent post, which the Gonzo-worshippers really should read and try to understand:

http://www.stopthemyths.info/viewtopic.php?f=115&t=7689&start=650

Still can't figure out exactly what they expect Amaral to DO about anything? Surely, by now they've understood that he has no ace up his sleeve, no spectacular piece of information that will solve the case etc. Money will help to pay off some his enormous debts, but apart from that, what do they think he can do? He can't sue the McCann family for anything, in fact, he has no grounds to sue anyone, not even the press. He's a convicted criminal, it's an established fact, the court determined he lied & he lost his appeal against that sentence. He can appeal the libel trial verdict as much as he want, Portuguese courts are still bound by EU laws, no appeal can change that. Apart from his first book, which the court has now decided was in breach of law, all his other books have failed miserably.

Apart from the tiny expat freebie, none of the Portuguese media seem interested in what he gets up to anymore. not one word about him filing an appeal has appeared anywhere else in the mainstream press. There seem to be a complete loss of interest in what Amaral gets up to these days.

Short of attempting to bribe the PT Judiciary I can't see what Amaral's options at achieving his peculiar form of "justice" really are.

Start of August today, just one month until the courts start sitting in Portugal again to be able to work on the appeal. So come on all you lawyers out there, how many of you have made money on litigation cases, this man is facing fees of about a hundred litigation cases with the McCann's, so how about lots of you throwing in £100 anonymously this month, to help pay your fellow lawyers wages, after all, where would you be if no one could afford to pay your wages.
This lawyer ain't donating anything to a convicted felon, I can assure you. LL Evil or Very Mad

Bare-faced lying for starters. Also:

1. I thought Gonzo's daughter was a lawyer? Why isn't she working pro bono?

2. Why does Gonzo have so little support in Portugal? Why aren't Portuguese lawyers rushing to help him?

No lawyer worth his salt would touch the case - unless he was prosecuting it. It carries far too much baggage, the behavoir of the accused over the past 8 years, the damage it could do to a lawyer's reputation if Amaral lost, the problems the PJ are having .... no, it's a hiding to nowhere. LL
