Such a sad story, lily. There are so many such tales, my grandfather was lucky he and his immediate family got out of Austria early on, but 2 of his brothers and one of his sisters didn't and all died at Mauthausen. Some of their children died in Treblinka and Dachau. LL

Hitler is said to have used the assumed name of Adolf Leipzig and was known to the 12,000 locals in Nossa Senhora do Livramento as "the Old German".

Yes, and I really don't see him bothering to hide it - none of the other old Nazis did when they fled to South America. Frankly, how many people would have recognised him without the moustache anyway?

They would not especially if they heard that he had killed himself?
