I bought the paper and read the whole lot... very interesting what was said... I will send you the full article tomorrow.. There is a full page in the main paper and then a 3 page spread in the cold case magazine.

There is also a piece called "Blame the parents" response can give killers more time.

It's bound to, isn't it? You only need to take one look at Gonc, deciding the McCanns DONE it less than twelve hours after Madeleine was abducted, to see that attitude is to the benefit of criminals .

That is perfectly put, Anita, and describes exactly the damage Gonc did, not least by trying to coerce false confessions from the McCanns - thankfully without the use of ashtrays this time.

I suspect the outcome would have been very different if, say, Rebelo had been in charge from the start, and didn't take such a blind, bigoted approach to the case.

Law Enforcement have done precisely that in The Lisa Irwin Case. Jumped on the poor baby's mother almost immediately, frightened her witless, and now can't understand why she doesn't want to speak to them without her husband present. In the meantime they completely ignored several promising leads which have now gone way cold.
Forums are having a field day while they tear to pieces every innocuous statement the Mother has made, and heap exaggeration on exaggeration.

I know it is shocking... while I agree the family should be checked out it does not give the police or the public the right to stand in judgement without any concrete evidence.. all areas should be investigated..

It is sad that society feels the need to make their own lives feel more safe and secure by hounding the family of a missing child so they can feel safe that no one could ever invade their home and take their child..it happens and the sooner they wake up the better... no person has a right to take a child under any circumstances.. the person at fault is the person who takes a child... end of

When people are innocent, and far from trying to find the missing child, the police are blindly only looking at them - or even worse, with Gonc, trying to frame them - then they have no choice but to lawyer up.

What else are they supposed to do in a nightmarish situation like that? They have no other choice, for their own sakes', but more especially for the sake of the child.

Because if the police aren't looking for an abducted child, then no-one except that child's parents are going to.

And they can't do that if they have been framed.

I don't blame them bonny, I would do the same in their circumstances.. I wonder how many of the "antis" would react if it was them...

It is very good indeed, Tony, and Donal's scenario tallies with most of what we know about May 3rd from the police files.

I said virtually the same thing four years ago. So, if I can work it out and Donal can work it out then you may be sure that Scotland Yard have as well.
