Re: Cristóvão refuses to co-operate with PJ
I very much hope you are right, Pedro, and this is just another stunt from Cristovao.
Because if it is correct, then the implications for the McCann family are horrifying.

I think I'm going to have a nervous breakdown.
When is the original McCann's Portuguese Lawyer going to surface? Can't remember his name, but the one who advised Kate to do a deal?
And Leonor Cipriano's original Lawyer? No wonder he changed sides, after they fitted him up with drugs, for which he was never charged.
Only now does one begin to realise what Marcos Correia has been up against. He must have feared for his life. What an extraordinarily brave man he is.

Carlos Pinto de Abreu, Sabot.
Yes, you begin to get a glimpse of what Marcos Correia has been up against, and Ms Duarte, and the female judges who have stood up to this bunch.
Then there were the lawyers who died in that strange 'accident'....

You are right, Pedro. Cristovao is entitled to a Lawyer and a Defence. Which is more than that lot ever offered to The McCanns.
I guess you will have to forgive us all for being suspicious. For five very long years we have tried to fight this horror story, and only now are we beginning to see the real implications.

You´re right Sabot: "No point in appealing to his better nature, Pedro. He obviously hasn't got one. He's a crook, out and out. And so almost certainly are his cohorts. They all behave like War Lords."

That's the one, Bonny, although I would hesitate to accuse him of anything but Cowardice.
Yes, Bonny, there are some other brave and true people out there in Portugal, and some of them are women.
Most people have something in their lives that can be used against them, true or not. But as always, the perpetrators have worse. It is the nature of the beast. It isn't even Karma, just self destruction.

Re: Cristóvão refuses to co-operate with PJ
According to Expresso, yes, Tony. As Pedro pointed out, it may not be true, just more sh*t-stirring.
Everything is appearing so rapidly in the Portuguese press, it's all but impossible to sort it out.
But, I simply do not see how Alves can carry on being the McCanns' representative in criminal matters pertaining to Madeleine's abduction, and represent Cristovao, when he has been one of the ringleaders in the Team Gonc smear campaign and anti-McCann vendetta.
Not to mention his vile little 'book'....
And once the PJ get into Cristovao's computers, it is inevitable that there will be material about Madeleine's abduction, and the Cipriano case, within.
Alves cannot run with the hare and hunt with the hounds, as far as I am concerned.

No, Tony. It is their present Lawyer. They appear to have sacked their original Lawyer after he advised Kate to consider that disgusting Deal.
Although at this stage there is no legal reason why Alves shouldn't defend Cristovao.
I can see a potential Conflict of Interest, but that's my mind working overtime at the moment. We shall have to wait and see.

No, Tony, it only appeared in Expresso this morning:

Expresso is a fairly serious paper, unlike CdM, and is generally accurate.

Re: Cristóvão refuses to co-operate with PJ
I can find one cross-over.
Marinho Pinto is due to testify against Amaral; his daughter is also a lawyer, and worked at Alves' law firm.
I don't know, this just seems bizarre to me. It would be one thing Alves defending Cristovoa if this was going to be strictly about football, but from the Portuguese media this morning, it is spiralling out in all directions already.
I don't know what to make of it; hopefully things will become clearer in the coming days.
And what is in his computers that Cristovao doesn't want the PJ to see?

It's worth bearing in mind that Abreu didn't want Kate McCann to cut a deal because he thought she was guilty of anything, but because he had seen the bad elements in the PJ in action before and knew what they were like.
This mess does start to make sense of the 'drugs find' in Grade's briefcase, and his sudden change of direction in the Cipriano case, doesn't it?

That's what I meant, Bonny. Abreu knew about the corruption and was afraid of it. That is no way in which to defend a client. He missed a very important point at which he could have seriously enhanced his reputation. That was a sad day for him.
Grade's Briefcase? That stinks. But he blatantly changed sides. More Fear?
The two of them will live to regret their missed opportunities.

Cristóvão refused to give in to their password PJ PJ computers and is now awaiting a court order to access the contents of the respective files. The PJ also seized iPad Cristóvão.
Don't they have IT specialists on the force?

The delay is probably because of his refusal to co-operate, Tony - they have to wait for the court order to get in?

Yes they do have to wait Bonny. Its just that I hope, these computers aren't "got at" before a court order is issued.
You know like Murats and Malinka's were, apparently!
Depends who's got them. It did say he was being investigated by his old colleagues

Portuguese police probe missing cash from Bebe's bizarre £7.5m Man United transfer

Rare sight: £7.5m flop Bebe in action for Man United
Manchester United’s peculiar £7.5million transfer of misfit striker Bebe is being investigated by anti-corruption police in Portugal, it emerged on Friday night.
It appears about £3m of the fee paid went missing. United’s decision to pay so much money for a virtual unknown raised eyebrows when they struck the deal with Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes in August 2010. Only 20 at the time, Bebe made just three starts for United - none in the league - before being loaned to Besiktas in Turkey last summer.
He appeared out of his depth at Old Trafford, raising questions as to why United had made such an investment.
Now it has emerged that Portuguese police are looking into the deal to find out where around £3m of the money has gone. Their anti-corruption department have scheduled hearings with various witnesses in Iberia.
There is no suggestion that United did anything wrong and they have previously gone on record as saying none of the transfer fee went directly to an agent. On Friday night United declined to comment.
Directors at Vitoria claimed at a board meeting 18 months ago that around three million euros went to Bebe’s agent, Jorges Mendes, as part of the deal. On Friday night, Mendes’ company Gestifute did not confirm or deny that police have been in touch.
Bebe’s transfer was so unusual because he was playing for tiny Division Two club Estrela da Amadora and living in a homeless shelter only weeks before joining United.
Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he signed Bebe ‘blind’, having seen him play only on video. Former United No 2 Carlos Queiroz pointed Ferguson towards the tall striker after he scored 40 goals in six games during a street tournament.
Bebe went from earning £12,000 a year at Estrela to £12,000 a week at United. His former boss Jorge Paxaio told Sportsmail the player could have been signed for just £125,000 the previous year.
This season he has just started playing for Besiktas after rupturing knee ligaments last summer. He is expected to be sold by United - probably back to Portugal - this summer, to end one of the strangest transfers of modern times.

You can't hack into people's computers without permission you know. But The PJ will get permission. It's a Catch 22. They will get permission from The Court simply because he refused. Oh, and the other Evidence, of course.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the information contained therein to leak out.
Hoisted on his own Petard. Goose and Gander. What goes around comes around.
Tick Tock.
He'll start screeching about his Yuman Rites in a minute. And Innocent until proven Guilty.
