I don't know why they bother with the pretence, frankly. They currently claim to have:

That's why they have a grand total of:

So, in over two years, all those hundreds of members have only made a bit over 83,175 posts?

Take a look at our GENUINE stats:

We have 38 registered users

A fraction of their supposed membership, but more than half as many messages in less than a year?

Who do they think they are kidding?

I reckon for every real member on Bennett's forum, there are at least ten sock accounts.

I don't know, Tony - I would have thought it would have to be subject to some kind of regulation? And of course, Bennett will have to tell Legal Aid about it, as well as his tens of thousands in the bank, etc.

I don't think anyone is allowed to collect large sums of money from The Public for an individual or a cause without some sort of Legal Monitoring, simply because it is open to Fraud.
And the likes of Sharon Bradford can't just say that it is for Bennett's Defence. In that case, she could do a runner with the money, her and those two Trustees that most of us have never heard of. Allegedly.
Don't know about Tax. It's hardly likely to come to that. How much Tax do you have to pay on Five Bob?

At the end of this whole Bennett farce, it is about Contempt of Court. It is not about the McDonald case, it is not about the Turkish case it is about a number of undertakings which Bennett gave to the High Court.

He should have consulted with and hired proper lawyers before he signed the undertakings. That is the bottom line. biggrin

But he did, Lily. And The Foundation paid Kirwan's £500 for their advice, at Senior Partner Level. Or did I imagine that trip and the ensuing debacle when Debbie cried all the way home, and The Foundation presumably authorised that payment of £500, made on The Foundation Cheque Book which Mr. Bennett just happened to have with him.
Although I have often wondered why, since Mr Bennett stated that he would pay his own Legal Costs. So why didn't Mr Bennett take his own Cheque Book with him?

Oh yes, Sabot. He did do all of that but when he decided to sign the undertakings, he should have made another appointment and taken all the documents with him before he signed them.

It would have been a lot cheaper for him to pay for legal services then rather than allow matters to escalate to what they are now. He would have been advised about legal aid too. Unless, he had other plans.........

Just look at that sentence:

I think it is possible to argue that we were not strictly under a legal obligation to pay them a penny and should have paid them nothing.

Ask yourself, what kind of person thinks it is in any way acceptable to refuse to pay highly-qualified people for work they have done on your behalf? They had already been in touch with Carter Ruck, for Heaven's sake - yet Bennett thought it would be OK to dodge paying the bill.

Yes. Exactly, Bonny. Why would Bennett think he had no obligations to pay? Kirwan's also wrote letters to Carter Ruck on Bennett's behalf. During his brief excursion into The Law, did Bennett write letters for nothing?
And just as a matter of interest, at what point in time did Bennett's Foundation become legally responsible for Bennett's Libel? He was only The Secretary.
