Re: BENNETT CLUTCHES AT LEGAL AID STRAWS
What he did to the Paxton song is beyond obscene - Bennett stands for everything that Tom Paxton has campaigned against all his life.

What a bastar* Tony. I hadn't seen the Tom Paxton one before!
After reading that, I hope he loses EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING

I never thought any other way Tony. He should rot in hell, for what he's done to the McCanns.
All he's interested in, is money. Find a well off sad git, and fleece them for everything they have.
Look how many dipsticks have handed him payouts.
He's like a paid male escort

He must know that, Tony. What did he say on Inside Out? Oh yes, people might call him evil and perverted.

I may have got the wrong end of the stick but my understanding is that Tony simply doesn't have the means to hire lawyers to defend him in this case. If that's the case, where does Spaniel expect him to get the money from? I'm curious.
They don't know the half of it, do they? In Bennett's own words:
At the meeting with Kirwans, Solicitors, Liverpool, on 2 October 2009, the lawyers asked about our personal financial circumstances. I told them honestly that my current annual income was £14,000 (I have just filed my tax return) and that I had ‘a few tens of thousands’ saved up for my old age.
I wonder how many of his fans have 'tens of thousands' of pounds in the bank?

can someone please either confirm or deny that the "silent night "parody which I have just found online was penned by Tony Bennett? Hopefully Mr B himself will reply to my post.
The Silent Night parody was mine. I think I wrote it about December 2007, along with another parody of trhe song 'Windmills of your mind'. IIRC these were written at a time when many of us were confident that, despite the removal of Goncalo Amaral from the investigation into Madeleine's disappearance, there was a realistic prospect of the McCanns being charged with an offence in relation to Madeleine. I have previously conceded that the Silent Night parody was not my finest moment.
re: Spaniel and Portia:
1. Both have given me advice and help (privately), especially Portia, and I am grateful to them both
2. I value anyone giving me constructive advice, even acting as 'devil's advocate'; I am content for people to point out the weaknesses of my position and if they genuinely think I am following the wrong course, they should be free to say so, in public on this forum if necessary.
Two final points:
(a) I would advise anyone interested in the finer points of libel law to read the decision in Spiller v Joseph [2010]
(b) Whilst, of course, normal legal principles will apply in this case - including case law in the European Court of Human Rights - there is in many more senses than one something quite unique about this whole case, and thus the court might well make some surprising decisions.
We shall all find out in due course what the court dertermines that I (or anyone else for that matter) can and cannot say about the mysterious disappearance of Madeleine McCann. That will be of interest, whichever way it goes.
=============
'Unique'? What on earth is 'unique' about a bully and stalker being called to account for his actions and trying to wriggle out of the consequences?
What on earth is 'unique' about someone having such contempt for the law, they think it is acceptable to break legally-binding agreements and expecting to be allowed to get away with it?
What on earth is 'unique' about someone taking pleasure in tormenting innocent people, and refusing to take responsibility for his vile conduct?
It's a shoddy story as old as the hills.

He never knows when to keep quiet, does he? He's not in the slightest bit interested in anything even resembling truth or justice. He just wanted and still wants the McCanns charged with a crime they did not commit. I would be interested to know just how much of this harrassment is being carried out with the full knowledge of Gonc.

Re: BENNETT CLUTCHES AT LEGAL AID STRAWS
How much more realistic was it then than it is now, that The McCanns would be Charged? Nothing has changed. There is no Evidence and there never has been. So Bennett's Parody was written with glee by a vile mind, and at Christmas, of all times to do such a foul thing to the parents of a missing child.
If Bennett is a Christian I might just reconsider my stance on this one, although from what I have seen of the man there is nothing Christian about him, especially since he appears to have broken just about every Commandment in The Book.

Re: BENNETT CLUTCHES AT LEGAL AID STRAWS
He doesn't get it at all, Sabot. Look at the way he has used his disappointment at things not going the way his ally the corrupt, disgraced ex-cop thought they should when he attempted to frame the McCanns as an excuse for his blasphemy.
Bennett makes a big thing of pretending to be a Christian - but he sees nothing at all wrong in desecrating a beloved Christmas carol about the birth of Jesus for LAFFS.
He is not one bit better than the pondlife trolls who end up in the press for descrating memorial sites.
There's nothing 'unique' about him at all.

Fundamentalist are all the same, Bonny, no matter what Religion they purport to follow. They decide what is acceptable and everyone else must think the same.. Bennett would have been burning witches at The Stake in The Middle Ages.

Re: BENNETT CLUTCHES AT LEGAL AID STRAWS
I find it very telling that Bennett's idol is Cromwell, the regicide butcher, Sabot. He must be one of the most revolting creatures ever to rule England - not content with making his own subjects as miserable as possible, he left a trail of bloodshed and massacres over the rest of the British Isles.
And having bumped off a king, made himself an even worse dictator.
But he's Bennett's hero - which makes perfect sense, really.

Re: BENNETT CLUTCHES AT LEGAL AID STRAWS
Cromwell was another Fundamentalist, Bonny, although we did get a Constitutional Monarchy out of that.
And I bet Bennett is a right little party pooper. No fun at all.

Re: BENNETT CLUTCHES AT LEGAL AID STRAWS
Yes, the kind of prodnose who cannot bear to see other people having fun and tries to stop it, while doing God knows what in private.
He certainly has a prurient fascination with the sex lives of strangers, and is not averse to inventing disgusting stories about them. Which does raise questions about why he is such an expert on deviant sex, doesn't it?

Re: BENNETT CLUTCHES AT LEGAL AID STRAWS
His campaign against Ed Smethurst was sickening and utterly vile. Again without a scrap of evidence.
Bennett revels in talking at great length about things I had never even heard of, and I am not sure are even possible. How could any decent person suggest such things by innuendo, concerning someone they don't even know just because he works for someone that Bennett has a vendetta against? This is Trial by Association with people against whom there is no evidence anyway. It is an abomination, and totally against the rules of a God fearing society. Bennett should have been locked up for that alone.

Re: BENNETT CLUTCHES AT LEGAL AID STRAWS
IMO, it is very telling that when Bennett ended up in court over that, he couldn't prove one word of his disgusting allegations and ended up paying compensation to Mr Smethurst.

He didn't have an awful lot to say about that affair in the end, did he. And was there ever an apology or a retraction? Or even any explanation?

Nothing I ever saw, Sabot - Bennett just wrote the cheque, which went into the Find Madeleine fund via Ed Smethurst.

This fascinates me:

Good luck and no sneering from me if you are able to settle this without going to court.
REPLY: I doubt it this time, though I have made an offer to the McCanns which I am not at liberty to disclose.
Surely that is an admission that he knows he is in the wrong?

Well, how could they, Lily? He's proven over and over that he isn't to be trusted to keep promises. Unlike a gentleman, Bennett's word is most certainly NOT his bond.
